Then Cody tells him he made a huge mistake. Not by attacking him at Elimination Chamber—but by saying all of this to the fans while he was in the building. Cody asks Cena, “Does that bother you?” He says there’s no need to go through their history. What matters is that he fought with everything he had just to hold this title once.Cody reminds Cena that he said all of wrestling history hangs in the balance—because of vanity. Then Cody places the title on the mat and tells Cena he can take it right now. Both men drop their mics and lean over the title like they’re about to grab it. But instead, Cena steps back, leaves the ring, and takes his hand towel with him.Cody yells out John’s name as Cena makes his way up the ramp. Cena pauses, but then turns back around and keeps walking toward the entrance. Cody tells him he can’t let him do this. He says he can’t have it on his conscience. He asks Cena to look at him—and to look at all of them. Cody says Cena’s obsession doesn’t outweigh the fans’ right to keep what matters.
