(Credit: WWE/Getty … [+] Images)Bianca Belair won the 2025 women’s WWE Elimination Chamber match to punch her ticket to WrestleMania 41 but only after her tag team imploded. Before the “The EST of WWE” could even enter the chamber, she witnessed the shocking return of her former tag team partner Jade Cargill, who surprisingly attacked her current partner Naomi and laid down an epic beatdown on “The Glow.” Cargill had been sidelined since November after an unseen backstage attack, and WWE spent months teasing who was behind it only for a massive reveal in Toronto. In an emotionally charged segment at Elimination Chamber, WWE fans seemingly got their answer when Cargill showed up announced, teased a confrontation with Liv Morgan and instead brutally assaulted Naomi. With Naomi previously taking over Cargill’s role as one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Belair, the message is clear: Cargill is back for revenge, presumably on the woman who took her out.But as big as Cargill’s return was, it may not have been the biggest story coming out of Elimination Chamber. No, that would be Belair’s big win, coming just minutes after she saw the implosion of her star-studded trio that completed together at last year’s WrestleMania.Belair won the women’s Elimination Chamber by last eliminating Liv Morgan with a KOD to earn the right to face Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship at “The Show of Shows” next month in Las Vegas.Unlike Cargill’s return, however, that result definitely wasn’t unexpected. With Becky Lynch still not back as expected and Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair already choosing to face WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania 41, Belair entered Elimination Chamber as the odds-on favorite to win the women’s bout and secure a WrestleMania world title match.Earlier this year, it was reported that Belair vs. Ripley was under consideration for WWE’s tent-pole event, and the only obstacle standing in the way seemed to be Belair’s involvement in a “whodunit” storyline involving a backstage attack on Cargill. With Belair and Cargill’s fill-in Naomi dropping the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on this week’s Raw and Cargill’s show-opening attack on Naomi, it became quite clear where Belair was headed.Arguably the biggest star in WWE’s women’s division, Belair has surprisingly been relegated to the poorly booked tag team division for much of the year. That was quite the head scratcher given the extended absences of Lynch and Flair as well as the general lack of top women’s singles stars on both Raw and SmackDown. At last year’s WrestleMania 40 event, Belair was stuck in a six-woman tag team match that lasted just eight minutes, a far cry from WrestleMania 39 when she defeated Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship or WrestleMania 38 when she beat Lynch for that very same title. One of WWE’s most exciting athletes and best in-ring performers, Belair has taken a backseat for nearly two years after a strong push for the previous two.Not anymore.Belair delivered a memorable performance inside the Elimination Chamber in Toronto before securing the pin on Morgan. Throughout the match, there were teases of Belair being too distracted by Cargill’s attack to win, but she was able to overcome those distractions to set up a WrestleMania 41 dream match with Ripley. That is, assuming that Ripley beats Iyo Sky on Raw to her retain her title.Belair vs. Ripley, of course, is a card that WWE CCO Triple H has been keeping in his back pocket for quite some time, too.For most of their stints on the main roster, Belair and Ripley have completely avoided each other, despite each winning multiple world titles. But WWE’s creation of women’s midcard titles, the Intercontinental and United States Championships, has pigeonholed many of its women’s stars into midcard roles, leaving only a handful of slots in the main event picture.Ripley has consistently been pushed as a top star, regardless of division, over the past two years, notably dominating Raw’s main event storylines with Liv Morgan, Dominik Mysterio and The Judgment Day. During that same span, Belair has struggled on SmackDown, where the women’s division is frequently overlooked and rarely given legitimate long-term storylines.Ideally, a Ripley vs. Belair dream match would come after a lengthy build-up and dramatic feud, and that’s actually still possible. But it does feel like WWE is rushing into this feud in order to deliver a dream match at WrestleMania 41. In theory, that’s what WrestleMania is all about, but now, the pressure is on WWE to make this feud more than just a battle between two beloved fan favorites.Ripley and Belair have work to do, but judging by the positive reaction to Belair’s Elimination Chamber win, she’s the right star to get fans invested in this WrestleMania title feud as long as Ripley can get past Sky first.
