Today it was tremendously lucky, leaving me with just 9 remaining solutions. One of these—and an unlikely one at that—was SQUID, though I leaned heavily toward SOLID. Then I thought, Squid Game! I still need to watch Season 2 of Netflix’s enormously popular TV show. Wouldn’t it be more fun if the answer was SQUID? And tossing logic and reason out the window, I went for it. Lucky for me, it was the Wordle!Competitive Wordle ScoreI get 2 points for guessing in two today and 1 point for beating the Bot, who has no cultural references to lean on. It guessed in four. Huzzah!The word “squid” likely originated as sailors’ slang in the 17th century, possibly from a New England dialect. It may be related to the word “squirt”, referring to the creature’s ability to eject ink.
