The Worst Tomb Raider Game Should Play a Bit Better in PS5, PS4 Remaster – Push Square

It’s out next month, but as a new blog post on the Tomb Raider website shares, the updated experience shouldn’t be quite as bad as it was on PS2.Aspyr is working to update and enhance the game, and restore some cut content. For starters, the modern control scheme used in the first set of Tomb Raider remasters is back (alongside tank controls as an option) which makes Lara Croft “more responsive and intuitive to handle”. You can now fully rotate the camera, jump in the direction the camera is pointing, shoot in mid-air, perform consecutive jumps, and shoot around corners in stealth mode.As for the times you play as Kurtis, he can now use his Chirugai and tap into his psychic powers to protect himself in a shield. He can also now sprint like Lara Croft and also shoot around corners in stealth mode. Further, an unfinished area of the PS2 game, the training area of the Parisian Back Streets, has been fully restored to help you learn the commando crawl ability without having to glitch your way into the place.Finally, cut voice lines for Lara and Kurtis have been restored, Von Croy’s cane will now appear in your inventory for a secret, and the pawnshop operated by Daniel Rennes will sell guns and weapon accessories. How can that still be missing?@sanderson72 you can step backwards with the modern controls but you need to draw your weapons first.Angel of Darkness had so much potential but it was released in a really poor state. The atmosphere, music and art direction were great though. Can’t wait to play the remaster.A polished turd is still a turd. Angel of Darkness is an awful game. Tomb Raider 4 however is one of the best games from the PSO era. I just wished we could be it seperate from the other 2.I would rather play the second Tomb Raider trilogy than any of the modern games. I’m so sick of the overly-emotional Lara we’ve been getting these past few years.I feel like we’ve actually gone backwards rather than forwards. How is it that the original Lara was more of a girlboss than this one is?I’ll pick up both collections eventually. Already own them all individually but the antiquated controls have kept me from enjoying them.This is awesome — I was quietly optimistic that they would at least acknowledge and repair some of the bugginess inherent in AoD, but the fact that they’ve gone out of their way to restore the content is music to my ears!I loved the first 2 and haven’t quite finished the 3rd, I’ll buy this day one to continue reliving my youth.I like the first remaster trilogy, played it on and off a few months ago. I’ll get this one sometime down the line.I’ll be picking this collection, but on Steam first, and play it with tank controls using keyboard only, because I want to feel that same experience from 20 years ago. I’m not sure about modern controls, will try it… if it’s any good and doesn’t ruin the classic TR experience then I will pick this up on PS5 as well.@Mintie You’ll need to play the PS4 versions for that I’m afraid. PS5 won’t be getting platinum trophies for each game.Sorry did I miss something?
