The House of the Dead 2 Remake Lives! Launches This Spring 2025 – Push Square

A new trailer shows off the enhanced version, which features “faithful” gameplay and remastered graphics and music. Check it out above. While the trailer only uses the wholesale PlayStation logo, it’s expected the remake will come to both PS5 and PS4. The remake of the first game came to PS4 initially, but was then ported to PS5 later on. Here’s a selection of screenshots to go alongside the trailer:”In February 2000, a small city was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they noticed the situation resembled the Curien Mansion incident from 1998. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through hordes of creatures.”The remake of the second game will likely receive similar treatment to the first remake, which we called a “faithful arcade recreation” upon its PS4 launch. We could only award a 5/10 rating in our The House of the Dead: Remake PS4 review, however, due to “fluffy” controls and ugly menus. “It’s a valiant effort, and an impressively authentic recreation all-in-all, but it just doesn’t hold up from a modern perspective – especially without a lightgun in-hand.”Do you have faith this second remake will be better? Let us know in the comments below.About Liam CroftLiam grew up with a PlayStation controller in his hands and a love for Metal Gear Solid. Nowadays, he’s found playing the latest and greatest PS5 games as well as supporting Derby County. That last detail is his downfall.Comments 34Time Crisis 2 >
Edit: Followed closely by Point BlankI can’t wait the house of the dead games bring back so many memories of me playing the games in the arcadeCool, now we can all suffer like G did.Any mouse controls for this, or the first game for that matter ?how have they not made either of them in VR. Someone needs to make VR Time Crisis and Point BlankHow do you play these games with a light gun? The controls must be horrible. All I want is a PSVR2 port and it’ll be mine. VR is the only reason I bought Resident Evil 4 and Village. They are remaking front mission 3 as well. I didn’t even know that. I did hear they were supposed to do panzer dragoon 2 remake too, but didn’t hear anything about that after the first one.Is the PS5 keyboard compatible? I’d definitely grab this if it included The Typing of the Dead. This and Time Crisis 2 were my favourites to play in the arcades back in the day. House 2 was brutally difficult though. I couldn’t imagine playing this without a gun controller, that sounds terrible.During our Japan trip a couple of months ago we were fortunate enough to find an arcade in Akihabara that had all Time Crisis and House of the Dead cabinets side by side. Many hours and countless 100 Yen coins were spent in that place. No light gun, no point in playingThe bare minimum control requirements should be gyro aiming and emulating force feedback with dualsense. Or just release a VR option.I’m sorry what is the point of these remakes?????? I’m kind of shocked the first one sold well enough to justify the second. Strip the game of all its original charm and slap modern graphics on top of it and you just have a lifeless shell of a classic. As said above, VR version please or it will flop hard like the last one!@Lastochka Agree this needs to be in VR to make any sense at all.Had this on my dreamcast back in the day, with a light gun. Without the gun, it’s absolutely pointless, for me anyway.Definitely one for pc, picked up the first remake and it plays great with the sindenThats nice to see more arcade classic is welcome.word up sonYep, as many have said, bring it to PSVR2. Bring all the lightgun games to PSVR2. Do it. Do it now!Old C64 player here, I wish someone would bring back Bruce Lee.The first one had awful controls on Switch and PlayStation. It also had bugs preventing use of the Move controllers on PS5.I love House of the Dead but I’m not holding out much hope for the quality of this one.@Oram77 Duck hunt!So do you play these games with a special light gun or with a controller?I don’t know how it would work without a light gun.It sort of takes away everything what made these games special. The amount of time I spent perfecting thr Time crisis game with a light gun and thesr games were what made up arcades. How can these games be played any other way without taking away what was special about them. The first one had a few patches so you could set deadzones which made the controls “better”. It was awesome on the dreamcast with twin berettas back in the day. Id love a vr option though. Ive not played anything better than Arizona Sunshine though, including old HotDI loved the first remake, the controls were pretty easy, didn’t care about no light gun controller. If I want a light gun controller Id get my Saturn out of the cupboard lol wish they’d remake virtua cop 1&2Had these and the Virtua Cop games on Sega systems. The nostalgia would be great but pretty sure without the gun controllers it will wear thin pretty quickly, so I think I’ll continue to dust off my consoles and play the OGsAs said elsewhere VR would be amazing thoughGuys guys it played perfectly on PS4 with aim controller Was brilliantAim controller only £15 at cexArcade perfect with that!!Out of interest, does a slinden light gun work with a ps5? Probably not but would be interested to hear if anyone has triedSo does this offer light guns? Or do I need to open the gun safe? Not having VR support seems like a huge mistake here.It shouldn’t be mandatory but it’s should be treated almost like a light gun was way back and optional add on that enhanced the gameThese games do not play good with traditional controller support they are to boring allow me to at least turn the duelsense on its side and use gyro aiming to simulate some semblance of a gun otherwise what’s the pointI hope we’ll get a HotD Overkill remake eventually… I must… return to the womb!@tameshiyaku Hahaha, in the current climate I could see that game having soooo many changes. Remember this (loose) quote from Ceaser to Varla Guns bro “next time you want to talk, turn the volume down on that thing, F*****G cabbage” 🤣🤣 for context he is a paraplegic.I have the first one, was in a sale on PSN for about 4 quid but haven’t played it yet. On the Sega Saturn HoTD was surprisingly playable on a controller with a simple inclusion of speeding up the reticle when holding down the C button
Genuinely worked, unlike Virtua Cop which was almost impossible to play without the Virtua Gun.Needs PSVR2 support or i ain’t bothering Show CommentsLeave A CommentHold on there, you need to login to post a comment…Poll: Are You Happy with Your PS Plus Essential Games for January 2025?Plus or minus?Square Enix Wonders Why Life is Strange: Double Exposure Didn’t Work OutMax Caulfield’s return should have been a sure-fire betPS Plus Essential’s January 2025 PS5, PS4 Games Available to DownloadFirst of 12 lineups rolls outDo You Put Your PS5 in Rest Mode or Shut It Down?To rest or not to rest, that is the questionRumour: Halo: The Master Chief Collection Coming to PS5 This YearSo too is Microsoft Flight SimulatorGame ProfileTitle:The House of the Dead 2: RemakeSystem:PlayStation 5Publisher:Forever EntertainmentDeveloper:MegaPixel StudioRelease Date:PlayStation StoreWhere to buy:Pre Order on Amazon
