Terminator 2D: No Fate Looks Like a Modern Day Mega Drive Game for PS5, PS4 – Push Square

Reef Entertainment has announced Terminator 2D: No Fate, a modern Mega Drive-style side-scrolling shooter based on the iconic 1991 movie. The art style and gameplay very much reminds us of the classic RoboCop Versus Terminator game from 1993, which we played on SEGA’s aforementioned system but was also available on Super Nintendo, Master System, Game Gear, and even Game Boy.Obviously, the presentation here is not limited by 16-bit consoles, and while it’s reminiscent of that classic retro look, it’s doing things that simply would have been impossible on those old devices. Honestly, this looks absolutely incredible.Even more impressive is that you’ll be able to play as Sarah Connor, John Connor, and T-800. The press release mentions there’ll be multiple endings and game modes, so you’ll have plenty of reason to replay this.Bitmap Bureau is developing this, the UK-based team behind some top-notch 16-bit inspired titles like Xeno Crisis and Final Vendetta. The game’s due out on 5th September for both PS5 and PS4 and has shot straight to the top of our most wanted list. What a pleasant surprise! If you’re feeling the same and really like the look of this, note there will be physical editions available at launch for both the PS5 and PS4 in the following guises:You can order the Online Exclusive Edition from Reef Direct if you fancy splashing out on this title.[source youtube.com, via blog.playstation.com]About Sammy BarkerAs the Editor of Push Square, Sammy has over 15 years of experience analysing the world of PlayStation, from PS3 through PS5 and everything in between. It does look awesome lol, modern sega game is an apt description. Suddenly miss those old Megadrive daysWow, this looks sick as hell.Count me in! This looks awesome! This looks absolutely fantastic and the kind of movie licensed game we should have got back on the Megadrive/SNES. Definite day one purchaseWho’d have thought that a 16 Bit style Terminator 2 game would instantly become one of the most exciting releases of the yearDamn right I am buying this!!Looks like Terminator 2 meets 16-bit Contra.Needless to say, I’m there. The trailer ruled. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on this one. This looks incredible, day one buy for me!Hell yeahAnd love that they go all out on the physical releasesNow THIS has my attentionThis looks amazing. I think this would have been my dream game if it had been a reality in the early 90s.Yeah this looks ace. Any chance of the steelbook by itself without all the gubbins? I’m good for premium metal paperweights.I would have loved this as a kid. I’m pretty sure I’m going to love it as a old man too.A Terminator game? An Alien game? A RoboCop game? A Predator game? Count me in! We’ve been thoroughly treated in recent years and with this game, an Alien Isolation sequel and more on the horizon, I’m one happy/nostalgic 80’s camper. If it’s Reef they did a fairly decent job with Resistance at least the PS5 version. A bit janky but quite faithful to the franchise.Dude, what the hell?!! This look awesome!!!!Yes please looks good 👍This looks amazing!! Day one!!!I’m not even a Terminator fan but this looks awesome. Reminds me of this Alien game I had on the Sega Genesis as a kid lolIirc it was technically called Alien³ lol@Trapdoor I went in with moderate expectations and thoroughly enjoyed it. The passion and respect for the original material was clearly there. The dlc was great too.@Majin_Deicide It had one of Matt Furniss’ very best Megadrive compositions and he did some absolute classics! This looks awesome. I just wish these companies would do something with Rambo and Judge Dredd.Has elements of Alien 3, Robocop v Terminator and Contra. I’m definitely up for this…Aw man, missed op we need the first one and only. Nah it looks cool such a big box office smash of the time and many will remember those set piecesI was about to say the sprite work reminded me of Xeno Crisis – I couldn’t remember the developer’s name. This looks neat, I like the little nods to the iconic movie moments. This got the 12-year-old kid inside me excited. The T2 games we got back then were not so good. Glad to see a better attempt being made here.My only quibble is that the motorcycle chase scene in the drainage channel is going left to right and in the movie it was filmed right to left. What a time to be alive. The motorcrashing scene in the beginning takes me back tot my childhood. Looks like the first level of the master system terminator game. That was a hard game. That reminds me of the arcade game. Played it to death on the mega drive. Same with revolution x. Would love these games remasteredThe attention to detail is mesmerizing, that police helicopter has the actual identification numbers from the movie.Regardless of how inconsistent the quality of Terminator products have been over the years, T2 is still a masterpiece through and through. This looks like a great adaptation of T2 as well. Consider myself interested.T2 is my favourite film, Just like that they’ve got me. Collectors edition ordered. When I was 12 and heard there was a T2 game coming out this is what was playing out in my mind … awesome to the maxI’m really interested in this, but I was wondering if anyone knows if it would look good on a modern OLED TV being retro? I’d imagine it would look great on the Portal.Edit: I found this on YouTube which answers my question…https://youtu.be/Zir-oFQT4Io?si=swEbVX_Ms5DcNObdLooks great!I need this so bad!
This seems like a perfect addition for the Switch. Yet, I like trophies on the PS5 as well.
But for some reason I always feel that I need to get physical pixelart games on cartridge instead of a disc.I remember having Robocop Vs Terminator all those years ago as a kid and it was REALLY not kid friendly lol. I believe it predated the need for ages on the box but I’m not fully sure on that, either way to way the enemies died was awesomely gory. Hope this game isn’t quite as rock hard though.@ryan_nil tbf if we’re talking classic game design it makes sense to run the level left to right. I am laughing though, such a great quibble. Would’ve been great attention to detail mind you.Love the film, Love the 16 bit era and the throwbacks…..needless to say, I’m inAmazing , simply amazing !Thank god i am not gen Z, So i can feel this nostalgia watching this and feel happy for these new thing that new generation have no emotions on these amazing things from late 80s and early 90s.Day 1 hell day -1 this is incredible let me wishlist it already PlayStationReminds me so much of the terminator game I had on the mega cdRobocop vs Terminator was LEGENDARYThis is cool as heck, can’t wait for this @__Seraph Oh yeah, I figured that’s why they went left to right, but everything else seems pretty true to the film, so it was a bit surprising they decided to go that direction (pun definitely intended).Wow..I had the terminator game on my mega drive back in the dark ages and it took less than an hour to finish. It was a great game but Jesus it was so short. This looks brilliant but I hope it’s got a lot more life in it.The pixel art has so much character and is very faithful to the movie. This is a game I would have dreamed about in the 90’s.That looks really good, I used to love playing Terminator 1 on my Master System as a kid!!@dellyrascal Robocop vs. Terminator is such an underrated game. That was probably one of my top rented games growing up.Yes i want this!Reminds me of Terminator 1 and Robocop vs Terminator on Sega Genesis :3Shut up and take our money!Looks rad, and I’ll be grabbing it, but…have you ever seen a Genesis game? In here blabbermouthin’ a buncha hooey. This ain’t 16-bit.@LikelySatan It’s 100% aiming for 16-bit look. However, as the article notes: “Obviously, the presentation here is not limited by 16-bit consoles, and while it’s reminiscent of that classic retro look, it’s doing things that simply would have been impossible on those old devices.”@get2sammyb Yeah I gotcha. It’s a dumb pet peeve of mine. At least people aren’t saying it looks 8 bit. Reminds me of Huntdown, as far as fidelity goes. The making of this game is interestinghttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Zir-oFQT4IoHaving played a mixed bag of Arnie games BITD on C64/Amiga including T2 Judgement Day,this is shining like an ice cream van to my inner child! Have a few Bitmap Bureau games already & with Art Direction being handled by the very capable Henk Nieborg who’s work’s date back to the classical 16bit era will be keeping a keen eye on this!😎👍🦾Removed – trolling/baiting@Skynet04 sounds like something a sentient and murderous robot hive-mind might say, hmmmmmmm…
I think you’re biased.
Edit: looking at you’re previous comments, I realized you are being serious. That’s unfortunate.Cor, a decent Terminator game? Wonders never cease.Video made me smile lots. Looks like a great game. Out on my birthday, too!@AndroidBango Terminator Resistance was fantastic, hope this one is great tooLooks absolutely incredible.I doubt it will beat Resistance as that’s easily the best Terminator game since Dawn of Fate on the PS2Definite day one, huge fan of Metal Slug and this looks like it will scratch that itch perfectly Show CommentsLeave A CommentHold on there, you need to login to post a comment…18 PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store’s Extended Play Sale (North America/Europe)Recommended PS5 and PS4 games going cheapPS Plus Essential Games for March 2025 Includes Some Massive NamesA shockingly strong month43 PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store’s Dealmania SaleRecommended PS5 and PS4 games going cheapSony’s Pricey PS5 Pro Is Now Being Outpaced by PS4 Pro Launch Aligned in the USSticker shockMonster Hunter Wilds (PS5) – A Timeless Formula Refined to Near PerfectionWilds thing, I think I love youFeatured Games 25Talking Point Is Forza Horizon 5’s PS5 Price Point Too High? 1News Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Gets an All-New Storyline and Open World In Daima DLC This Summer 34News Capcom’s Crappy Microtransactions Are Back in Monster Hunter Wilds, Including Paid Character Edits 63Poll Are You Playing Monster Hunter Wilds? 75News Suicide Squad Bombed So Bad, It Basically Took Wonder Woman and Monolith Down with ItNews PS Plus Essential Games for March 2025 Include Some Massive NamesGuide 18 PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store’s Extended Play Sale (North…Guide 43 PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store’s Dealmania SaleNews Sony’s Pricey PS5 Pro Is Now Being Outpaced by PS4 Pro Launch Aligned in…News Yakuza Creator’s Next Game Will Be Sent to Die As NetEase ImplodesReview Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5) – A Timeless Formula Refined to Near PerfectionHands On Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Certainly Isn’t Perfect on PS5, PS5 ProNews PSVR2 Gets Enormous Price Reduction Starting March 2025News Terminator 2D: No Fate Looks Like a Modern Day Mega Drive Game for PS5, PS4Guide Last Chance to Grab These 35 PS5, PS4 Games in PS Store’s Planet of the …Popular Right NowShow More Join 443,748 people following Push Square:© 2025 Hookshot Media, partner of IGN Entertainment | Hosted by 44 Bytes | AdChoices | Do Not Sell My Personal Information
