Take-Two Boss Says ‘Artificial Intelligence Is an Oxymoron’ – Push Square

While the controversial tech is already being used to enhance the development of games, Zelnick says that firm guardrails are already in place to protect its valuable IP, such as subsidiary Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series. As reported by GamesIndusty.biz, during a recent investor call, Zelnick was asked about his stance on AI: “Machine learning, machines don’t learn… [These] are convenient ways to explain what looks like magic to human beings. The bottom line is that these are digital tools and we’ve used digital tools forever. I do not doubt that what is considered AI today will help make our business more efficient and help us do better work, but it won’t reduce employment.”With the upcoming GTA 6 set to break every video game sales record in history, it stands to reason that Take-Two would offer mutually assured destruction to anyone foolish enough to infringe on its intellectual property rights. Zelnick said, on AI being trained illegally on owned IP: “We’re not going to do that. If we did, we wouldn’t be able to protect our IP. So, of course, we’re mindful of what technology we use to ensure that it respects others’ intellectual property and allows us to protect our own. Apart from that, I can’t think of any new guardrails that must be implemented.”The future is nowDollar dollar bills, y’allAre you ready to embrace our seemingly imminent AI future? Do you take executives like Zelnick at their word that this misunderstood tech will allow the video game industry to prosper, entering into a new golden age? I swear we are doing everything wrong.Ofc it’s an oxymoron. It has nothing to do with intelligence at all. It is the name’s catchy and “kewl” but it should be abbreviated to AML and not AI. Advanced Machine Learning. Nothing more nothing less.I feel like the tech is already here in games. We’ve seen multiple GDC surveys that show developers are using AI in some sense or the other.I worry about it’s implementation in removing QA people which is usually the entry position for many young devs and, concept artists who are responsible for the unique settings of their games. Like most technology I can see benefits in removing some of the tedious parts of the job. He’s right that we don’t have “true” AI which is artificial consciousness e.g. Peace Walker from MGS.”I do not doubt that what is considered AI today will help make our business more efficient and help us do better work, but it won’t reduce employment.”APPLAUSE“AI” is nothing more than specialized software or code that is programmed by man. It can be written to index large bytes of data from any database giving the illusion to the user it’s “smart.” The AI that people have been sold by movies is that of a quantum computing machine with organic elements. Anyways AI is nothing more than a tool or program that can be used to assist with workflow. The gaming industry will benefit from it as the AI tools can do redundant tasks which can be reviewed latter by the humans. So that the humans can focus on making the artwork and story mechanics.Rockstar could use AI, be open about it, and the same people that complains about it being used on other games would still give them money.but it won’t reduce employment
these are digital tools and we’ve used digital tools foreverhow can be “higher ups” have so little brain?
also the end consumer being able create to new “art” for themselves with the push of a button is not a tool (creatives use AI as tool, sure), it’s something completely different and has never existed before in historyAI doesn’t actually know anything, it just looks at available sources and comes up with something plausible (which is frequently wrong).A gaming business exec actually talking sense? Now that’s an oxymoron.AI worked wonders on the Grand Theft Auto trilogy defective edition nothing can replace the complexity of a human brainIt’s literally already replaced people we’ve been getting reports for 2 years about and in some places caused a panic amongst management cuz the ai couldn’t do the work and they needed people to come back Show CommentsLeave A CommentHold on there, you need to login to post a comment…Report Investigates Why PS5’s Store Is Still Drowning in ‘Eslop”I could make Fart Fart Boobie Fart: The Game’Embattled US Retailer Trolls Customers for Picking Digital During PSN Outage on PS5, PS4″Bet y’all want physical games now”Ex-Sony Boss Says Xbox Can Find Multiplatform Software Success, Just Like SEGAAt the cost of console “FOMO”Your Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive PS5 Imports Will Not Be Affected by US Postal Service ChangesPlay Asia says it’s business as usualHi-Rez Studio Suffers Significant Layoffs, Drops Everything But Smite 2One basket 3News Korean Dev Shift Up Had a Record Breaking 2024, Powered by Stellar Blade 1News Shifting Swamps to Plague Elden Ring Nightreign’s Procedural Map 2News The Sims 4’s Massive New PS4 Expansion Actually Sounds Awesome 5News PS Plus Premium Likely to Include Rhythm RPG Classic Patapon 3 25News PlayStation Users Miffed with Sony’s Lack of PSN Outage TransparencyNews PSN Finally Back Online, But Some Problems Persist After Biggest Outage …Guide Monster Hunter Wilds Beta 2: All Start Times, Preload, What’s New, and R…News Free PS Plus Extension for All Members Affected by PSN OutageNews Report Investigates Why PS5’s Store Is Still Drowning in ‘Eslop’Guide Sniper Elite Resistance Guide: 100% Collectibles WalkthroughNews Shuhei Yoshida Remembers Scariest Moment for Sony, When Nintendo Signed …Guide Sniper Elite Resistance: Dead Drop – All Collectibles: Personal Letters,…News PSN Downtime Raises Fresh Questions About PS5’s Future FunctionalityNews PS5 Pro Proves the Console of Choice for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2Guide Sniper Elite Resistance: Sonderzüge Sabotage – All Collectibles: Person…Popular Right NowShow More Join 442,442 people following Push Square:© 2025 Hookshot Media, partner of IGN Entertainment | Hosted by 44 Bytes | AdChoices | Do Not Sell My Personal Information
