Kendrick Lamar pulled out all the stops while headlining the Super Bowl LIX halftime show Sunday evening to land a series of public jabs against, among others, rival rap artist Drake, digging back nearly a decade into the Canadian pop star’s love life.Serena Williams, a legendary tennis sensation and also a native of Compton alongside Lamar, was briefly linked romantically with Drake after the two were spotted kissing in 2015, earning the 23-time Grand Slam champion a cameo in Sunday’s halftime show as she was seen crip walking to former Billboard No. 1 hit “Not Like Us.”While her appearance was met with great fanfare, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith broke with much of the sports media world and criticized Williams on “First Take” Monday morning, characterizing the tennis star’s behavior as inappropriate for a married woman.Stephen A. Smith on Serena Williams’ cameo during the Super Bowl halftime show: “If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass. ‘Cause clearly you don’t belong with me. What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Ohanian, notably, praised Willians’ performance at the Super Bowl, writing “Pretty fantastic halftime show” on X Sunday evening.© 2005-2025 CBS INTERACTIVE ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
