Sheryl Crow wants nothing to do with Elon Musk, including his car brand, as the billionaire’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) continues to slash federal agencies.
The multi-Grammy-winning singer took to her Instagram on Friday to share that she’s selling her Tesla and donating the money to NPR, which has recently been under attack from President Donald Trump.
“My parents always said… you are who you hang out with. There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla,” Crow wrote in the post’s caption, which also included a video of her smiling and waving as her Tesla is hauled off.

Since entering the White House for this second term, Trump has continued his attacks on news organizations whose reporting he doesn’t agree with. More recently, his criticism has been targeted towards PBS and NPR. Brendan Carr, the new Trump-appointed Federal Communications Commission chairman, has also launched an investigation into NPR and PBS member stations because he’s concerned their “broadcasts could be violating federal law by airing commercials.”
As for Musk and his unofficial government agency DOGE, he’s been moving full steam ahead trying to “delete entire agencies” from the U.S. federal government as part of Trump’s efforts to radically cut spending and reduce jobs and select programs.Sign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySubscribe for full access to The Hollywood ReporterSend us a tip using our anonymous form.
