Samsung Executive Hints At The Arrival Of Blood Glucose Monitoring In A Future Galaxy Watch Model, Mentions It Will Be A ‘Game-Changer’ – Wccftech

The idea behind incorporating a non-invasive blood glucose monitoring sensor in a smartwatch sounds exciting, but only if it works accurately. Samsung and Apple have been reported to be working diligently on bringing the feature to their wrist-mounted wearables, and according to the Korean giant’s executive, the company has made some progress on this front. Unfortunately, the majority of the details are currently kept in the dark right now, but the work is progressing.Bringing health-focused features like ECG on the Galaxy Watch is an ambition that Samsung attempts to materialize, but it appears that the company wants to beat Apple when it comes to non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. According to Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team at Mobile eXperience Business, Dr. Hon Pak, who spoke at the Galaxy Tech Forum held in San Jose, California. The feature’s launch details were not divulged, but he mentioned that work is being carried out.“What I’m really excited about is our team, as you may have assumed, we are working on a non-invasive optically-based continuous glucose monitor. I can’t tell you the time [of the launch], but I’m very excited about the progress we are making, and this, if we do it right, will be a game-changer.”The last time we reported that Samsung was working on non-invasive blood glucose monitoring was back in early 2024 when the company also hinted at introducing a Galaxy Ring to introduce more health-centric features to the masses without putting additional load on their daily loadout. Unfortunately, Apple, which has had years of experience developing such additions for its smartwatches, has run into development roadblocks regarding blood glucose monitoring.Given that the Samsung executive did not point out any potential release timeline, we expect a few more years before the feature debuts in a Galaxy Watch model. Hopefully, we will not have to wait too long, but if it can deliver accurate results, it can shake up a part of the medical industry. Some posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links.
