Rumour: Leaker Names Multiple Xbox Games Potentially Releasing On Switch 2 – Pure Xbox
GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpPure XboxGuestLogin or Sign UpMicrosoft might be going big with this thingLast week, Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2 as its next console, set to launch worldwide in 2025. Off the back of that announcement, we touched on how we’d like to see Microsoft support the console in a big way with new Xbox ports – and it sounds like we might be about to see that become a reality.Offering a new & different Xbox experienceProminent leaker eXtas1s has put out a new video today that talks all things Switch 2. In there, Xbox’s potential plans for the Nintendo console are discussed, with multiple titles named “that could be coming to the new machine”. The insider says “I’ve heard about the games that could be coming”, while namedropping Diablo 4, Fallout 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Starfield as some of the Xbox games potentially being planned for Switch 2.However, it appears that eXtas1s is more confident with some of these titles than others. The source says that he’s “been told Diablo 4 is already in the works for Nintendo Switch 2” (thanks VGC), while his Halo and MSFS mentions are reiterations of what fellow leaker NateTheHate recently outed. Fallout 4 and Starfield were also mentioned, but the insider didn’t seem to have as much concrete information on those two Bethesda titles.Anyway, given the decent track record of eXtas1s (especially when it comes to Game Pass leaks), these ports are probably worth keeping in mind – but they shouldn’t be taken as gospel. Plans change, especially over at Xbox, and this is all just rumoured information at this stage.PS5 and Switch 2 both mentionedGo ahead and discuss the latest Xbox & Switch 2 rumours down below.[source youtu.be, via videogameschronicle.com]About Ben KerryBen is a News Writer at Pure Xbox, and is a fan of action, racing and straight-up shootin’ in any Xbox game he can get his hands on. Makes sense that Diablo IV would be in the works for Switch 2.I get it it’s their strategy now. It’s going to make them more money. Which is fine. But if you are supporting the switch 2 so much (if it’s true of course), surely it’s hindering their own handheld?Because why buy the MS one, when switch will give you Nintendo games and Xbox? It’s just such a mess.Interesting to see how far they go with this. I’d be a day one buyer of the Xbox handheld but I’ll also get a switch 2. So it does certainly beg the question of whether one would actually need both….Assuming it’s true just the fact that these games can run on Switch 2 is great for the industry, it means significantly raising the lowest hardware specs that games are built around. Especially Flight Sim, which shows the CPU must be OK. A rising tide lifts all boatsIf Switch 2 will get a large number of the big Xbox games then I can safely say the Series X is my last Xbox.Other than gamepass what else does it offer that i can’t get elsewhere?@Markatron84 played it on Switch 1, and can confirm it’s a very decent port. Genuinely cool to be able to play proper Diablo on the go.@PsBoxSwitchOwner they’re already doing that for home consoles. I guess they figure what’s the difference if they have a handheld? Not saying the decision makes any semblance of sense IF they make a handheld console that they actually want to sell, but that is probably the logic.@IronMan30 @Scrubchub at this point I expect the Xbox handheld to “just” be an Xbox branded handheld PC, not an actual handheld Xbox. So supporting Switch 2 wouldn’t have effect as it won’t have separate game sales to PC.I would be surprised if Starfield runs on Switch 2, well. With all that loading it could be a nightmare if the Switch 2 loads “much” slower.Would be nice to get the rest of Elder Scrolls and Fallout on Switch 2.@Cikajovazmaj definitely something to be said for Diablo on the go. My wife spent the majority of her time with Diablo IV on Steam Deck and had a great time.@PsBoxSwitchOwner That is the part I don’t get why bother with any hardware at all if it’s all going PS5/6 and switch 2. As owning either of those consoles gets you their own exclusive library of course and the Xbox studio games.I always thought Xbox may have been smart and fair to Xbox console users and said yes we are going to put every NEW game on other consoles but not until at least 9 months have passed. This would then at least and also with GPU give Xbox console owners a bit of, well we get it first for 9 months at least and a reason maybe to own an Xbox console and GPU.Instead it’s a mix of no games are redlines, some are day one on other consoles, some are later and some we are not sure. What a terrible mixed message.@PsBoxSwitchOwner Why take another ‘Rumour’ as fact ? If as you say “surely it’s hindering their own handheld” well if that’s the case then surely Microsoft wont be doing this.If it does end up being yet another false rumour no doubt it won’t be headlined, but the original story will just be updated which no one would read by then.@Rog-X I mean if you read my post I clearly say if it’s true, no where did I take it for gospel. But hey if you want to pick just one sentence then sure.I can’t imagine flight simulator working very well on a nintendo. Performance of the console and the internet infrastructure might be working against that one.@Markatron84 Yeah i own Diablo 3 on my Switch and its a fantastic port and my favourite version of the game.I will prob buy Diablo 4 again lol just for switch. Perfect game for casual 30 min grind. Just hope it works properly in an offline mode.Honestly if MS released games for switch 2 but NOT for PS, that would be way better move. Switch 2 can potentially eat series s audience but anyways its not a direct competitor to PC, PS, xbox.@OldGamer999 today for series X owners – I think all good. Enjoy GP and exclusivity while you have it.Next gen xbox hardware – the only message I am getting is xbox is only worth it for GP. Or as a secondary platform to pc where you can use play anywhere and same GP. There are also 5% enthusiasts who buy all console, who buy consoles based on controller only or design or any other non-mainstream reason. Plus a bunch of loyalists to the brand. But i see 90% of people with xbox down the road to be mainly for GP. And I wonder at what point MS realizes its not worth to feed this audience who does not buy games where they will have opposite examples on Ps/N@abe_hikura that’s about the only way that would make sense.@PsBoxSwitchOwner I think it’s the XBL infrastructure that will stand out as the key difference. That, and the technical capabilities. People for years have bemoaned resolution and frame rate. I can’t see that stopping any time soon, but from MS standpoint – selling on both rather than one is more profitable than the alternative. You raise an interesting point though. Surely they have a devkit too, so they’ll know the technical output. Same as the PS6. They’ll have a devkit for that too, I imagine (based on the FTC) this time round. It’ll be an interesting jump next gen I think. Especially given that MS / Xbox are hitting harder than ever.Halo MCC makes the most sense@IronMan30 I would that an Xbox handheld could play my Xbox library as well as my play anywhere titles.A dual-boot device makes sense. Play your console library on one OS, play everything else on another.@OldGamer999 you think Xbox’s messaging has been bad, have you not seen how PlayStation have repeatedly cancelled promising-ish live service games?Funny how I don’t see the doom and gloom messaging from certain people on the push square article relating to this@Markatron84That’s true, Diablo III on Switch is great. They did a really nice job.@ZAHMED because most didn’t want the live service push. Most are happy they quit those games. Is it a ***** up? Yes of course. It’s crazy so many being cancelled. But most don’t want Sony to do them in first palce@ZAHMED I’ve posted about that on there don’t you worry. But I’m glad they got cancelled as I have PlayStation for their single player AAA games. Not rubbish GAAS stuff. I have all three console for the best quality AAA exclusive single player games from all three companies. Though the way Xbox are going I may need one less console. Also especially and this sounds so weird and unfortunate to say, that the best place to play Xbox studio games console wise is on a PS5 Pro. Crazy times we live in.I believe it and can’t wait to buy some Halo on my NintendoOnly way a Xbox handheld makes sense is if it’s oled 120hz and has all streaming movie apps which switch doesn’t@Medic_alert gamepass is enough. it would cost you 700 to buy 10 games for example, why not buy an xbox and gamepass instead and have both consoles?@Kaloudz getting a ps6 dev kit shouldn’t be assumed. One of Jim Ryan’s arguments at the FTC trial was that CoD on playstation would suffer specifically because they wouldn’t give Microsoft PS devkits in advance of a new console.Things might have changed since then as it seems like MS is backing out of competing in the hardware space, sony might not be looking at them as much of a threat. That would make good sense, they could skip ps5 launches and just do switch 2 as that will most likely dominate again. PlayStation is viewed as xbox’s main competitor whereas Nintendo is kinda separated from that.@OldGamer999 both Microsoft & Sony have repeatedly said that both strategies of Game Pass day 1 & single player AAA are expensive. But people hate change. We are the minority also. So as long as Fortnite, Minecraft, Roblox, COD & GTA are on Xbox/PlayStation. Then to the average gamer both platforms have a future regardless of what happens to 1st party software.@Jenkinssgetting a ps6 dev kit shouldn’t be assumed. One of Jim Ryan’s arguments at the FTC trial was that CoD on playstation would suffer specifically because they wouldn’t give Microsoft PS devkits in advance of a new consoleIt shuld definitely be assumed that ABK/Microsoft will have PS6 dev-kits. Jim Rayan’s throwaway comments about PS6 dev-kits were just that, throwaway comments to see what sticks and drive a hard bargain regarding COD on playstation, nothing more.
For all the drama surrounding the ABK takeover, I think it turned out quite good for gamers, more so for those who generally don’t play on Xbox (in light of Microsoft’s bringing more games to more people, approach).@demian not everyone wants gamepass though.I have had it for years but the truth is that’s only because I haven’t paid a single month at full price having used various conversion tricks and deals so far.I just don’t have time to play that many titles on there. And I refute the idea that it works out value because of the 10 game thing. Firstly I don’t think anyone is paying 70 for any game – and if you are you are ripping yourself off.Secondly, most games on gamepass aren’t new and can cost as little as £5 in some cases. All you get with gamepass is you don’t have to wait for the price drop.Thirdly, if you are a physical gamer you can sell games on reducing costs further. It is all about personal circumstances to be honest. When I was a kid I would have loved gamepass. Being able to play so many games when I had all the time in the world. Now I’d rather have some ownership of the few games I get to play.Me and my son are kind of interested in an Xbox handheld but being able to play Xbox games on Switch 2 would mean no need for it.@mac_da_man theoretically the Xbox handheld would have gamepass but the switch 2 would not.@ZAHMEDYes, probably. But for that we have Xbox consoles so no need for it on a handheld.@Jenkinss That’s true. Course on the flip side, they’ll not be able to complain about parity if they withhold. But then again, it would only be for launch year wouldn’t it? Seeing as there’s no reason for them to withhold the kits post reveal?@OldGamer999 they bother with xbox console because they are not fully onboard with all exclusives on competing platforms. It takes time (in years) to port older games and change how studious develop from PC/xbox to also include switch 2 and PS5/PS6.And we know that GP audience is primarily on xbox. So its a slow death basically, we just dont know when it happpens. We know for sure less or no exclusivity in next coulple of years@Millionski Just a dam shame in my opinion, in todays up to date situation with Sony and the amount of ip and studios Xbox owns and with GPU they really could have started a great console come back and gone up against Sony. Setting them up also for next generation. And yes the massive attach rate of game pass to Xbox consoles is an issue for Microsoft as they could well loose tens of millions of Xbox console game pass subscriptions.Which would potentially and roughly only leave about a maximum of 10 million game subscriptions attached to billions of other devices. They have taken totally the wrong strategy with this especially for the Xbox and Xbox consoles we know.I would have least said ok. Any NEW Xbox studio games are very likely to release on another console or consoles. However Xbox console and GPU owners. Any NEE game will have a least 9 months of Xbox consoles and GPU exclusivity. At least that gives some reason to own an Xbox console and GPU and we know exactly where we stand. Also of course any games already released over 9 months old could go to another console.Instead we have a totally messed up message of. We don’t know what games and we don’t know when after Xbox release or at the same time. We just don’t know, because we have no idea as business how to treat our loyal Xbox console fan base and to run this programme how we should really run it.I’d love if they could get Starfield to run properly on a handheld. I tried it on the ASUS ROG Z1 Extreme and the results were “meh” so I returned the whole unit. I’ll be getting the Switch 2 on Day 1 if bots don’t beat me to it.
