Rumour: Diablo 4 Is Claimed To Be In Development For Switch 2 – Nintendo Life
GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpWhile Halo’s arrival is reiteratedA new claim states that Blizzard’s Diablo 4 may currently be in development for Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 hardware. This comes from eXputer writer ‘eXtas1s’ who, in a newly uploaded video (thanks, VGC) states that the game will likely make its way to the new console in 2025 while also reiterating Nate the Hate’s previous Switch 2 claims regarding Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Flight Simulator.“These are two of the video games Microsoft will port to Switch 2, but they aren’t the only ones. In fact, here’s a little bit of an exclusive or scoop I can tell you about. According to what I’ve been told, Diablo 4 is already in the works for Nintendo Switch 2, so it wouldn’t be surprising at all if Diablo 4 was released in 2025 on Switch 2.”Of course, it’s worth approaching claims such as this with a reasonable degree of scepticism, though one thing that eXtas1s has in his favour is a proven track record of revealing Game Pass titles before their official announcement. The Diablo franchise is no stranger to the Switch, either, with Diablo III: Eternal Collection and Diablo II: Resurrected both available on the eShop.eXtas1s also stated that Fallout 4, Starfield, Tekken 8 and Elden Ring may also come to the Switch 2, but this was considerably more speculative than his statement regarding Diablo 4.Third-party publishers are free to provide confirmation of any Switch 2 projects now that the console has been officially revealed, though it’s likely we’ll need to wait until Nintendo’s upcoming Direct presentation in April before we hear about some of the big hitters making their way to the system. It’s already “tracking ahead” of the PS5 revealAlong with Flight SimulatorWould you like to see Diablo 4 on the Switch 2? D3 was a huge disappointment for me and after hearing about all the internal trouble at Blizzard, I decided that they’re not making games for me anymore. Overwatch is not my type of game and after 10 years of playing WoW, it was enough. Never again. To hell with Elden Ring, give me the Remastered Souls trilogy on Switch and I’ll die a happy camper.Didn’t this die already? Then again, make a few extra bucks with minimum effort is a very Blizzard thing to do.I’m really excited to see what the Switch 2 can handle. With that said I’m not so excited to play games that have been out for ages anymore as I have said before, the ‘impossible port’ thing is no longer very interesting.1. As AAA gave development costs balloon with the giant game developers, they are finding their game vaults to be a viable revenue source, since ports and remasters are much cheaper to make than building new games from scratch.2. There are many people who never played some of those older generation games, so they would be a fresh audience for updated versions.2. Nintendo saw/heard the feedback from devs that porting to the Switch was difficult due to hardware limitations and platform constraints. They have certainly improved the hardware capabilities, but I’m willing to bet they have also specifically addressed porting by developing tools for publishers to do so easily and cost-effectively.The Switch 1 was an indie and previous-gen port paradise, and I only see this increasing, which makes me happy.@Medic_alert Plus the Switch 2 will no doubt put an end to the “impossible port” thing, seeing as it’s a lot more powerful than the current Switch, so it won’t be as special. Although I’m afraid we’re going to see a LOT of ports from PS4. Some of them are more than welcome, however, like Resident Evil 4 remake, for me, personally. But yeah, it is getting old…Hope it’s a good port, though personally after PoE2 I’ve lost interest in D4. However D2 is still very dear to my heart so if they can do a 60fps patch for D2 Resurrected (because it’ll be BC of course) I’ll be very happy!I’d rather see Baldur’s Gate 3 on the Switch 2.@Zuljaras @The_Pixel_King Yes preach! Both of these games would be insta-buys on switch for me if that was the case. I’ve lost a couple characters on D4 due to connectivity issues which really really kills the game for me. I’ve uninstalled it and haven’t gone back since early launch due to this. Such a shame. We really do need some of the fallouts and the mass effect trilogy in switch. Those are classics.@Pillowpants the more ports the better. This is exactly why in the last Nintendo consoles didnt do so well. Don’t get me wrong, first party IP’s will always make the console sell, but having more games that performance wise is on par with other consoles will make switch 2 the better consoleI agree with Zuljaras and The_Pixel_King: Add an offline mode or gtfo, Microsoft.Bah, I’d rather Path of Exile 2 or Baldur’s Gate 3.@PushMyGran86 I’m not saying ports are necessarily bad, but it kind of makes me wonder at what point people are still going to get excited to play them. Not me, at least, but to each their own!@Pillowpants You’re right, we can surely expect those. Much as I love the RE4 remake though, I’m not sure I’d want to play through it again at 30fps even with portability in mind 🤔. Different story though if they can hit 60fps, but we know that’s unlikely…It would be more shocking to ime if Starfield came to the Switch! I would definitely play that.As well as Elden Ring, the Final Fantasy VII remakes, Red Dead Redemption 2, Metaphor, Baldur’s Gate 3, the Resident Evils, the Kingdom Hearts…Other third-party games I’m eager to see on Switch 2:Bring it on! 🎮🎮🎮@Pillowpants yeah for me once you take away the novelty of getting the Witcher or Doom Eternal onto the hardware at all then I wonder if those games that have been on other platforms for multiple years or maybe have been on Switch but only as cloud versions lose all impact.I guess if you are a Nintendo only gamer it is still exciting but given that you could pick up a cheap PS4 and play a lot of these games I’m not sure how much excitement they bring. This is a no brainer, unless the previous games sold poorly. Any game—especially a successful one— that is already out and available, that is scalable to the Switch 2, will probably end up being ported due to the cost and to reach an untapped audience.Elden Ring, I kind of already assumed. Diablo IV also seemed possible. Most of these don’t sound wild at all. Given MS’ push to publish more software on competing consoles, even Starfield sounds believable.Considering that Diablo 2: Resurrected on Switch requires an online connection to work, I believe it may also apply to Diablo 4.Always thought this series should be a shoe-in for the hybrid handheld series of the Switches@Zuljaras correct me if I’m wrong but you can play D4 offline on XS now? I thought I needed online but realized it’s fine without. Maybe my definition isn’t the same but I thought it possible.@CammyUnofficial Diablo 4 is a live service game. All of the actions are made on a blizzard server.Diablo 2 only requires a login in battle.net from time to time but can be played offline. Still dumb, while D4 requires a constant internet connection.@Zuljaras ah I see, I was thinking incorrectly. I was thinking how you needed like a Xbox gamepass or something to play with friends, which you don’t need to play solo (and I eventually found out ). Unlike what you’re saying which yeah is really annoying.Hoping it does come to S2 with offline, I don’t get much use of the XS and would love to have it on a Nintendo systemI guess we will get lots of remasters, re-releases from other multiplatform games and I am perfectly happy with it. I just hope this time the joycons have analogue triggers or at least that the Switch 2 supports analogue triggers for example on a new PRO controller. I really need some serious racing fix besides kart racers, as much as I love Mario Kart…Offline and I will be on board.Assuming the price model for their online services stays the same for 2, I will 100% buy this. Been wanting to play it since release, but I no longer subscribe to PlayStation’s vastly overpriced online service. So… cool!I’d def buy D4 again so I could play it on Switch 2MORE PC GAMES ON NS2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!D4 would be cool, but since PoE2 came out I would love to see this on the switch 2 way more. @fR0z3nS0u1
Absolutely agree on that. Souls > Elden
That being said Elden Ring is probably more of a big announcement in the eye of the mainstream.Other than that yes please. Bring the Elden and the Fallouts and the Diablo. I’ll sooner buy the likes of SF6 and Monhun and RE but yeah, I like Diablo. 4 is one of the good ones so I’ll probably end up buying. Path of Exile would be great too. That being said I hope Capcom is on board. It’s the one third party team I really really want to see make a comeback on Nintendo.A bit late to the party, but nice for everyone who’s interested.I do hope developers also have some unique things in store for Switch 2, and aren’t just going to flood the system with ports and remakes…I think the list of big PS4 3rd party games not coming to Switch 2 will be shorter than the list of games that are. For Xbox One you can include 1st party games as well since MS bought up all the devs. Will be more interesting to see what current gen PS5 and Xbox Series games can be ported, and moving forward. We still haven’t seen a single screenshot of MS making good on its legally binding 10 years of CoD on Nintendo consoles.@Yalloo shift up maker of stellar blade is a sony second party developer. stellar blade was made for sony only it will not be on any other console..I figured that was obvious, and likely bundled with the newest DLC. But I agree with the folks here who want it to have an offline mode, that’s how the game should’ve released…considering they didn’t patch in LFG options until well after launch.@johnedwin Never says never 😉 But thanks for the heads-up. 🙏🏻Honestly wouldn’t suprise me at all, D4 is on every platform but Switch atm basically. I love D2 and D3 was fun as well. Played D4 for the first few season then lost interest. It felt like D3, in a darker package, with a skill tree that didn’t really matter, and sole focus was on the Paragon/Glyph board. Not to mention resistances and stuff were still completely broken at the time, smh. It’s probably (I honestly don’t know) in a better spot by now, at least one could hope. And I might pick it up again on Switch 2, but it would be a difficult choice, spent $100 on the Ultimate edition already and was burnt for 3-5 months there at launch….pass cause i heard diablo 4 isnt as good like 2 and 3 plus i heard the expansion wasnt that great either. The devil is in the details.Let’s hope they get rid of the always online. Would not be really playable on a portable console.Dark Souls 3 Next, PleaseFound D4 kinda boring when my brothers and I played it co-op when it came out, which was pretty disappointing. We had been looking forward to it.This game had one of the best glow up’s since the Switch ARK port, I would grab it on Switch 2with the Switch 2 mouse feature, I can definitely see it…I hate playing diablo with a controller. My Switch was the Diablo 3 edition with the awesome custom dock. Kinda hope a similar thing happens with Switcheroo.Halo eh? Guess that confirms Master Chief for the next Smash… Show CommentsLeave A CommentHold on there, you need to login to post a comment…Feature: Everything You Missed In The Switch 2 Mario Kart Reveal – Characters, Features, Easter EggsStart your enginesPoll: What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong’s Redesign In Mario Kart 9?Got whiplash?Switch 2’s Rumoured ‘C’ Button Isn’t Actually A ‘C’ ButtonSo what is it..?!Nintendo Is “Very Upset” About The Switch 2 Leaks, It’s ClaimedFormer employees Kit and Krysta discuss company secretsRound Up: Video Game Industry Reacts To Nintendo’s Switch 2 AnnouncementHere’s what everyone thoughtFeatured Games 9News Nintendo Joins ‘Fuji TV’ Commercial Boycott Following Sex Scandal 27News Zelda Fan Film Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign With First Live-Action Trailer 37News Ori Dev Asks Nintendo Fans If They Want ‘No Rest For The Wicked’ On Switch 2 36Random Donkey Kong Country’s Artist Reacts To Nintendo’s Redesign 46News Sonic’s Third Movie Outing Gets A Speedy Digital Release This WeekNews Nintendo Asks Wii U Owners To Refrain From Using “Unauthorised”…News Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal Trailer Gives First Official Look At The New Co…News Retro Staff Credits Removed From Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Forever…News The Switch eShop Is A Nightmare, So We’ve Made Our Own “Better eSho…Feature Everything You Missed In The Switch 2 Mario Kart Reveal – Characters, Fe…Review Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (Switch) – Aping A Retro ClassicRandom Geez, PS5 Game ‘Anime Life Sim’ Sure Looks FamiliarRound Up The Reviews Are In For Donkey Kong Country Returns HDPoll What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong’s Redesign In Mario Kart 9?News Switch 2’s Rumoured ‘C’ Button Isn’t Actually A ‘C’ ButtonPopular Right NowShow More Join 1,470,744 people following Nintendo Life:© 2025 Hookshot Media, partner of IGN Entertainment | Hosted by 44 Bytes | AdChoices | Do Not Sell My Personal Information
