PSA: Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Has Reportedly Leaked Online – Nintendo Life

GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpSpoiler shields, activate! We are mere days away from the official release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on 20th March and now, as has been the case with so many first-party releases during the Switch generation, the game has reportedly leaked online. That’s according to a new moderator post on the XCX subreddit, warning that the game has been dumped online, and users won’t be allowed to share any further chatter about its new content until launch day.Being a remake of a Wii U game, you might assume that there’s not all that much to be ‘spoiled’ this time around, but from what we’ve seen so far… there is. Nintendo has been very keen to flag XCX: Definitive Edition’s bonus story content since its reveal, and with theories circulating around wider-franchise narratives, we’re sure that there will be plenty of surprises that you might not want to discover before launch. So, get those keywords muted and be careful out there, folks, who knows where a story spoiler might crop up?There’s a little under a week to go before we can all officially get our hands on Nintendo’s latest, and from what we’ve played so far, it’s shaping up to be something special. “Xenoblade Chronicles X is a very special game, a game we’ve been dying to see come to Switch,” we said in our hands-on preview, “and so far it seems the overhaul and tweaks that have been made are giving us an experience that’s beyond what we thought it could be”.A Skell of a good timeIt’s UncontrollableBest deals and cheapest pricesWhere’s your excitement level for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition sitting? Let us know in the comments.[source reddit.com]About Jim NormanJim came to Nintendo Life in 2022 and, despite his insistence that The Minish Cap is the best Zelda game and his unwavering love for the Star Wars prequels (yes, really), he has continued to write news and features on the site ever since.Comments 38Can personally confirm this is true, I’ve seen leaked screenshots of new content. Be careful folks.Oh no, story leaks for a 10-year old game.I feel these leaks come from people decrypting the “pre-order” downloads that start downloading a week before launch.Unsurprising although luckily it’s “just” one week before the official release – that said, as usual I hope all those who mind spoilers (and yes, there are some even for those who have played the original as mentioned also by the article) will be able to avoid them!@sanderev They come from people getting their hands on physical copies, it’s practically impossible to decrypt the digital preload. This game has substantial new story content so yes, this is a big deal.I do hope the NL review will give the definitive answer about the ability to disable vocals in the music. ♥️It’ll be just my luck to scroll by a spoiler video on YouTube. The algorithm knows I love the game since I listen to the soundtrack all the time.I can’t wait to play this again. For anyone who missed this in the Wii U era, you’re in for a real treat.Story leakes for ff7. Becaureful, somebody can die 😜@fabiop Vader is Luke’s dad🙃Given there aren’t really spoilers since the game is ten years old, I think that kind of articles look like they just want to tell people they can pirate the game right now if they want… -_-@RootsGenoa There’s spoilers for the new story content, for a game that famously had a cliffhanger ending. This isn’t insignificant at all.@RootsGenoa Well first of all, most people didn’t have a Wii U and didn’t play this game. I for example only became a Xenoblade fan way later and don’t know much about this game’s story. And even for the ones that did play it, like the article said if you bothered reading it, the bonus story content can get spoiled to everyone.@BTB20 There’s also a lot of people that skipped Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U, because it was a big departure from the original title.Things have changed since then, with the release of two whole new sequels and a remastering of the original, all of which have major extra chapters as standalone games, and all of which have some degree of cross-over content that feed into one another. It’s a perfect melting pot of getting people interested in playing the chapter they missed before, and seeing how X even fits into the core trilogy.@sanderev The Definitive Edition of XCX comes with brand new story content. The vast majority of Switch players did not play the Wii U original, and the rest of us have been waiting a decade for a resolution to the story so maybe ditch the condescending attitude, especially since it comes from a place of ignorance. It’s bad enough Nintendo of America themselves tweeted a huge spoiler the other day when they did their version of Nintendo Europe’s post from last week. Heck, even the end of the official trailers are major spoilers, though it’s necessary as the new content is the major draw for this rerelease. Still, it’s gonna be tough avoiding the new content.@RupeeClock @BTB20 OK, I get it. What I mean is it happens with every major video game release, especially since “journalists” (and now YouTubers who are not always as serious) have the game in advance. So I really don’t see the point of warning people except for promoting piracy.@RootsGenoa It’s giving notice that spoiler season is upon us, and is a nice courtesy.Pirates are going to pirate and aren’t relying on wider media to do that anyway.@RootsGenoa Given this websites obsession with anything that requires you to hack your switch, I think your rightAre there spoilers for the boob slider?Anyway, why would you put yourself at risk of seeing tweets? Any tweets?? Do you really value your sanity so little? The next 2 weeks are going to be a hotbed of rumours and leaks all ending on April fools day which is the eve of the most anticipated date of the year. Stay safe out there. There is a major plotline missing that still needs to be told and explained from the original game. I hope we get it this time.@8bitKirby https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/03/switch-emulator-nxemu-is-back-and-hopes-to-avoid-nintendos-wrathAnd it wasn’t even the cartels this timeI’m OK w/ the warning about spoilers, even for a 10yo game. I had an entire post deleted on PS b/c I mentioned someone died in a game that released FIVE years ago, which still seems a bit extreme, but I don’t know why everyone immediately starts condemning leakers as theifs and pirates or whatever. The game releases very soon. Carts have been processed and shipped and are sitting around in stores and warehouses. A game release is not a magical Christmas event. The games are not made by elves in the North Pole and delivered to the stores at midnight. These things are out there. And sometimes stores mistakenly ship them early or put them on the shelf early and people buy them. We don’t need Geraldo Rivera to solve the mystery of the early game play trailers. This is just normal commerce mistakes in a world filled with way too many people many of whom are working underpaid jobs they’d really rather not be. Stuff happens. Now what I wanna know is if the censorship was removed. That’s the only “spoiler” fans such as myself wanna know. I already played the original release on launch, so that’s all I care about before considering a (re)purchase.@BreathingMiit Don’t forget the censored gear@rjejr I think you’re overcomplicated this. A better reason to be cautious of real spoilers is because it’s a Wii U release. And most gamers did not buy a Wii U, so this is in essence a new game.@sanderev There’s also brand new story elements as well in this one.Welp, time for yer regularly scheduled leaks from ye olde aaa gaming corporation.Seriously though, this probably is from the digital preorders.Surprised Spoilers didn’t come sooner…Unless I’ve overheard wrong, doesn’t the new content require a standard playthrough unlike the flagship expansions accessed from title screens? Spoilers would suggest someone either speedrunning their copy in a couple days or dumping and vivisecting it at once for the holy grail of momentary internet clout. No matter what spoilers I may run into (and the proverbial XC1 one back in Smash Bros only sparked my interest tenfold), folks like these will deserve most pity in context.Hey guys I came here to tell ya its been leaked….wait. Damn I was too late Marty.@nhSnork Apparently people have detained the cutscenes, so that’s how spoilers are traveling so quickly.muh emolater is just for retro out of print games…. blah blahCan confirm that so far its… awesomeYet people cry about WHY Nintendo is so aggressive against pirating like they always go after the little guy that wants to play a game that came out 20 years ago and not being sold.Yes there are digital copies floating around as usual. Also people here going “lol spoilers of old game guys!” while being completely ignorant that the game has a good amount of new story contentreally my main thing im curious about is how it holds up performance wise since ive seen some previews mention it having issues in places where the wiiu version didnt.i know a bunch of people are playing on emulator but surely there are some who are playing it on actual hardware.
