Poll: So, Were You Accepted For The Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On Event? – Nintendo Life

GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpGo on, tell usOne of the biggest surprises that came with Nintendo’s announcement trailer for the Switch 2 was the confirmation that the company would be holding a number of global ‘Nintendo Switch 2 Experience’ hands-on events for members of the public following its April Direct presentation. You were free to file your application of attendance so long as you had an active Nintendo account, but the catch was that your place would only be granted via a randomly selected draw. Yikes. So naturally, then, social media is alight at the moment with users either elated at their confirmed attendance or somewhat saddened by Nintendo’s denial.I’ve seen so much rejection on my timeline today for the Switch 2 Experience.

When even Geoff Keighley can’t get in, that’s an exclusive event! At a quick glance, we’ve seen a lot more posts from people who have been refused entry than those who have been granted attendance, which suggests that a lot more people applied than Nintendo is physically able to acommodate; certainly a comforting signal of the console’s early popularity, at least. So now, we’d like to hear from you, dear reader – did you get in? Cast your vote in the below poll and let us know. If you didn’t even apply, we’d love to also know your reasoning; are you located too far away from one of the events, or are you simply content to wait until the console’s launch day to finally get your mitts on it? Leave a comment to elaborate on your choice. The wait is over!Followed by a hands-on tourAbout Ollie ReynoldsNintendo Life’s resident horror fanatic, when he’s not knee-deep in Resident Evil and Silent Hill lore, Ollie likes to dive into a good horror book while nursing a lovely cup of tea. To those of you that haven’t heard back yet.Check https://experience.nintendo.com/ whilst signed into your Nintendo Account and check My Tickets/Passes > Event Tickets. You should clearly see if you got the tickets or were “not selected”.I voted and was like “What, 25%? That’s pretty good”. But turns out I was the only one out of 4 voters that voted yes. Guess I’ll have to check back later.Unfortunately not, but I was kinda dreading the 3 hours of burning rubber on the M4 all for the sake of LuigiJapan doesn’t hear back until Feb. So still waiting.I didn’t get selected. Not a big deal. Stock pending I’ll try and pick up one day one anyways. No, conflict of interest with my uncle working there n allDidn’t get to go to the first switch preview event.Didn’t get to go to this one either.I managed to survive somehow but I don’t know that I can last another 8 years to the next chance.Nope, I wasn’t selected.you know that nintendo saw geoff’s application and immediately rejected it. you KNOW. /jksadly wasnt selected 🙁I applied for myself and my partner for London but we were not successful.Guess I will just have to wait for the launch of Switch 2 to play it!We have to wait until March for the results here in Japan. Can’t get accepted if I don’t apply to begin withSadly there is no event close to memaybe if they didn’t cater to the same 9 darn cities every time and chose a venue not 3 states away from me I’d actually have applied”When even Geoff Keighley can’t get in, that’s an exclusive event!”Who, the guy that hosts those game awards spoof/parody events? I have nothing against him but he didn’t think this through when he became the face of that.Didn’t apply. The events are not being held anywhere close to me. Any money I’d spend traveling could just be used for the system and games.Very interested to see peoples impressions though.I did not even apply as have no interest in the current iteration. When an interesting version comes out I might get one, but that at the moment it is uuuuuugly.Even if I didn’t live in one of the 47 states where the event isn’t being held, I wouldn’t apply for the fact that it would probably be at a location I would have to drive out to anyway, only to deal with an enormous crowd of gamers (which probably doesn’t smell any different from an EVO convention), when I could just enjoy the Switch 2 from the comfort of home when it releases, and not be restricted to a set time limit.Applied for 2 locations, denied for both . For the few of you that made it, I am excited for you!Didn’t apply, I’ll just wait for Switch 2’s release to experience it in person – so looking forward to the Direct and media coverage of this event in the meantime, though (and of course I’ll also be busy playing games on Switch as usual)!I wasn’t selected. Apparently there’s a wait list option but I’m not holding my breathThere wasn’t one even vaguely close to me, I passed on applying. It might have been to cool to go, but I’ll have my hands on it by the end of the year (and for many years after that, hopefully) so it all works out.Sadly no for me.I was at the Switch 1’s hands on event in London, where I got to try Breath of the Wild, Arms, and some other miscellaneous games. I think they had Puyo Tetris and Sonic Mania too?
…And a long long time ago I was even at a 3DS pre-release event… I remember seeing Ocarina of Time in no-glasses stereoscopic 3D and it was really cool. Bit of a shame I wasn’t selected for the Switch 2 event, but oh well! I’ll be busy in April anyway. As excited as I am for the next console, I’ll be sticking with the original until its first limited edition console is announced!I would have loved to go, but the dates & locations offered weren’t quite right for me so I graciously stepped aside for the good of the rest of you. Have at it.Sadly it’s not in my town so I probably won’t make it anyways. Besides I’m planning to get the system on year 2 so it’s no big deal to me. I don’t expect to buy the console yet until it had lots of games.@MTMike87 This is probably where I am, waiting for the first Zelda skinned console.I can wait. Unless it’s being demoed with the new F-Zero128 title developed my Amusement Vision. Now that I can’t wait for.@WheresWaveRace Amusement Vision doesn’t exist anymoreNo, I was not accepted. This whole operation reeks of impertinence.@Sylamp yes it’s sad, I was referring to the greatest futuristic racer of all time. And I put 128 in there which was a nod to Mario128 which laid the foundations for Pikmin, another series close to my aging heart. I do these things for my own amusement you see cos life – without WaveRace, F-zero and 1080 -is rather boring.I wasn’t accepted…and I’m pissed! First the “secret” NSO game and now this?!?! Why, Nintendo, why?!?!I’m just a little salty.Sadly not and it was the cherry on top of a very bad day yesterday 😭I’m working when the waitlist opens as well so I won’t have luck thereThere I was, outside the doors of Nintendo HQ.**CRASH**The doors flew open and out strode my uncle, looking resplendent in his red suit and tie.“My boy, you’re going to the hands-on event! You wouldn’t believe what I had to do to get you a ticket.”“Are you in trouble again, uncle?”“No, no, nothing like that. Haha! Here.”He handed me the ticket, bid me goodbye, and strode back inside. After he’d left, I looked down at what he’d given me. It had been edited with a marker pen and read, “Dear —eoff—Keigh— AMONGTHEWORMS, congratulations on securing a place at the hands-on event. We can’t wait to see you there! Love, Nintendo.”didnt register for it cause its too far away for meLuckily I got selected for the Switch 2 Experience in Amsterdam! When I registered, I thought it would be easy to attend but I’m seeing A LOT of reactions of people who unfortunately are missing out.So, I’m grateful I got selected. I knew it’d be a popular event, but we don’t know much at all at this point. How many people were even selected?Only one small complaint is that it’s on May 11th. All the other Experience Events are way earlier. So, by then we already know much more about the system and the surprise effect is a bit gone. But that’s also a positive thing! Knowledge is power. Hopefully there are some goooood games to play!Didn’t apply because I don’t live anywhere near LA, New York, or Houston. Even if it were in any other big city I’m pretty much in the middle of nowhere so I couldn’t make it to any of the events if I wanted to. Would be cool to experience it early but I’ll just wait until launch to play it .@Ewaldus Congrats!Congrats to those who got a ticket! Sorry for those who didn’t; that must really suck, but hopefully the console’s release isn’t too far. Unlike the locations for the hands-on event; I didn’t bother participating. But at least some people can make it there and experience it (plz tell us how it went).@JohnnyMind Yeah, I would have liked to attend the hands-on, but I probably wouldn’t have gotten to try it for long, and then I would have to wait for the thing to launch, and then when I’d get it, it wouldn’t feel very magical as it wouldn’t be my first time playing.Don’t live close enough to any of the cities to make it worth my time. I know I’m pre-ordering it anyway, lol. They aren’t located very close to me, so I didn’t apply. It could have any number of other explanations, but I’m wondering/hoping if/that this lottery-selected exclusive series of events indicates that Nintendo is very excited about what they have yet to show us about Switch 2. Fingers crossed!!!That being said, now that these are out of the way, we just wait until April. Will they try to keep our anticipation levels cruising in some way? Not that we won’t still look forward to it if they don’t.@CammyUnofficial This is the way@thenikdavies Hope you have a better todayDidn’t apply. I rather try it when I open it at home Nope. Just wondering how many tickets they had available tbh. In the UK, 3 timeslots per day, albeit overlapping with each other. It’s a huge place, that ExCeL centre. Obviously don’t know how much space they’ve rented out, but they can get a sizeable attendance there. And yet it seems as if like 5% of all applicants got tickets. Would love to know how many tickets were available for each timeslot and how many they’re allowing in at once with the overlapping times.Ooo. D’you know, between work being a-holes and a trip down Cheltenham for a mate’s 40th birthday, I forgot to check.[checks]YES!! GET IN THERE! Sunday 2pm slot at the Excel in London CONFIRMED, baby! COME ON!In for SAT morning for the London event!@FlyingDunsparce We are but 10 percent now Didn’t apply – not in my area (Chicagoland).Went to the Wii U event that was in Chicago.Went to the Switch event that was in Chicago.Mysteriously no Switch 2 event in Chicago . Did consider and lightly looked into NY, but was probably not worth the cost.No events in my country so I didn’t apply.Am not very far from the London event but I’m not a very good traveler ( even fairly short distances ), so didn’t apply.
I too, though am also looking forward to playing it when it’s in my own 2 hands!Had they had more cities in the United States that were close to me I would have applied. I will just wait to get mine launch day and play it.I didn’t apply; even being in the same state, a 3~ hour drive didn’t sound worth it when I’ll be buying it regardless. Sounds like I had a low chance of getting in even if I did!Didn’t apply myself. Closest was NY and I wasn’t about to drive 3 hours north for that. I’ll be content with my Switch 1 experience memories in a Washington DC warehouse.it seems the draws have a delay here in The NetherlandsForgot to apply, could’ve gone to the one in Amsterdam (if selected of course), but oh well. I’m going to buy the Switch 2 anyway, so not like I needed to try it out.No point in applying, since none of the demo experiences were anywhere close to me. I live in the Chicago area, and the only cities in the United States that will be hosting this shindig are New York City, Los Angeles, and Dallas.I am not going to put in the time off from work (as it is, I blew through all of my sick time after coming down with norovirus a week before Christmas and then COVID a couple days after the New Year), and then spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to travel to a city I’ve never been to for just a few minutes of playing the new Nintendo console.Maybe if it came to Chicago (or even Milwaukee, which is also another city near me), I would have considered it, but as it stands right now, it’s simply not worth it. I’ll just have to wait until it launches.I didn’t even bother trying. I plan to get the system regardless of this event.Tried and deniedNot even 24 hours in and apparently there were already listings of these tickets on eBay: https://x.com/nintendeal/status/1884320784765837592?s=46Pretty crazy if you ask me. How did Nintendo not realize this would happen? It was stated in the NDA that they can’t sell the tickets, but some people just didn’t listen.Even worse if the tickets don’t have names of the people who got them, making it easier for a person who didn’t initially register bring the resold tickets to the events and register them as part of their account to gain entry.I never even applied BTW.@MrCarlos46 Yeah, should be non-transferable.@DwaynesGames If Nintendo actually considered writing the name of the account owner who got the tickets, there’d be less of a chance they get resold online, especially if the events require a Nintendo account at entry to verify the tickets belong to them. Not sure when Nintendo will find out about it and how they will take action following tickets being resold online.i can’t believe it i got picked ..i never win anything awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I’m part of the 47% that didn’t apply, besides I’ll be getting it anyway when it launches. Even Kit & Krysta didn’t get accepted & both applied like 8 or so times, all rejected. No, but seeing as they’ll open a waitlist on the 29th, I’m going to try my luck again. If it fails, I just enjoy the showcase and countdown to whenever launch isI’ve come to terms with not going now. The Switch 1 launched after the Wii u. Interest was low. This time everyone wants a piece of this pie. To get me to buy S2, I need hands on and that’s Nintendo’s problem.I unfortunately was not accepted. I am majorly disappointed.
