This new trailer showcased a handful of mechanics like real-time battles, rooftop exploration, Mega Evolutions and Wild Zones, and we finally learned that Chikorita, Tepig, Totodile will be cropping up as our starter Pokémon.IlluminatingRight, that’s your lot! You can let us know which of the above announcements you’re the most excited for in the following poll and then take to the comments to share your thoughts on the showcase as a whole.Mega or mediocre?About Jim NormanJim came to Nintendo Life in 2022 and, despite his insistence that The Minish Cap is the best Zelda game and his unwavering love for the Star Wars prequels (yes, really), he has continued to write news and features on the site ever since.Comments 21I wonder if classic GB, GBC and GBA main Pokemon games will ever get released on Switch/ Switch 2.Okay, i am normally not a fan of Pokemon but seeing the gameplay of Z-A!
Def gonn get that one.
They finally improved the battle system.I wonder where the Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games will come in rereleases in collection.Yep, as already mentioned in the other article (and funnily enough the poll here is the same one from there as I had already voted in it – luckily this time it isn’t due to it being broken) my favorite announcement as in the one I liked the most personally is Legends Z-A although Champions was quite the pleasant surprise, too!Nothing for me. I’d love the the classic games to be available digitally. Physical copies are an absolute minefield; dead batteries or fake carts. Not to mention the price gouging. No thanks!I think because of the Switch 2, I was getting my hopes up that this would be the year Pokemon goes all out, especially after skipping 2024. I was hoping for one other video game announcement, either a spinoff or a tease for Gen 10. Still enjoyed it though!ZA was definitely the highlight; I really liked the mechanics they’ve shown so far, even though I was expecting to see more of a 1st look at the ways that you can interact with Pokemon outside of battles. I’m hoping they enhance the interactive mechanics, especially when you think back at old XY promo art as well as ZA’s teaser trailer depicting Pokemon enjoying a cafe alongside you (this is France, after all).Does anyone think it’s possible we could see a Switch 2 Pokemon announcement made at the April Direct?Wow only one actual game (and it’s the game we already know about), everything else is garbage. To think that Pokémon is now synonymous with garbage is sad.The Pokemon Champions game could be good, but since it’s coming to mobile phones as well, it’s probably gonna be a gacha game… I get burnt out too easily nowadays with gacha games.Definitely excited for Legends Z-A though it’s weird that this is more futuristic compared to Legends Arceus. Nonetheless, I’m still excited to see an actual sequel to X&YPokémon Champions could be the official Pokémon Showdown we are waiting forHow was there so much Unova hype but no black and white announcement :'(Ok while I still expect a 2026 launch for S2, I would not be shocked at a 2025 launch to ride on Z-A as a holiday game. Can see Nintendo making a Z-A Switch to help clear component stock.I think I’m officially burnt out on Pokémon now. What a lacklustre line-up. Not even Z-A can excite me because of its S/V graphics level. Big Meh.Outta everything in the presentation, A-Z was the only one that I’m looking forward too. Champions looks neat but I’d rather wait till it comes out. Overall, it was pretty bad— A-Z feels like it should be the first arpg pokemon game cause of it’s gameplay. The gameplay really stands out to me for a pokemon game.I know everyone’s said it before, but all I want is gens 1-3 on NSO.Well, I must confess I had zero hype for Z-A. But after seeing the trailer, it looked rather good! The battles looked much more involved. Yeah, I think it’s going to be great. The fact that it’s two johto starters may mean that the next legends title might take place there. It would be really exciting to see the events of the burnt tower and Suicune, Raikou, and Entei. Just a theory. I did really love the ancient Japan vibes of Arceus….I guess if I want my Pokemon Black/White Remake…I will choose Tepig, and stick with Gen V Pokemon in Pokemon Z-A (Much like how I treated Pokemon Sun/Moon as Pokemon Z, and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon as Gen 7.) ….Great….and the Pokemon Company apparently wasn’t very fond of the play style of Nuzlocke….and they wonder why…Pokemon fans had to get creative for games that don’t get made the way that makes logical sense. Some nice announcements overall, but it’s very much so in the “more of the same” barrel and I can’t help but feel disappointed by that. Also, who comes up with the names?Concierge? Cafe? Sleep? Z-A?The lack of creativity and originality in the latest projects shouldn’t come as a huge surprise when they can’t even come up with a decent name.Fingers crossed for something awesome on Switch 2.@Don I REALLY thought we’d hear of it today but… no 😭@Pikman The opening for Pokemon Champions made me think for a moment that they were going to announce the retro Pokemon re-release.Finally seeing gameplay of legends Z-A was definitely what I 2as looking forward to the most. But man that pokemon champions announcement was a welcome if not pleasant suprise.
