So sad, in fact, that many PlayStation Plus subscribers are threatening to cancel their membership if it goes ahead. In a recent PlayStation blog post, Sony put out the following statement:”As we shift to PS5, PS4 games will no longer be a key benefit and will only be occasionally offered for PlayStation Plus Monthly Games and Game Catalog. We’ll continue to evolve the experience of PlayStation Plus and optimize the benefits you receive, including exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access, online game save storage, and more.AdvertAs we shift our focus to PS5, we look forward to adding new PS5 titles monthly for you to enjoy.”With Sony revealing that “many of our players are currently playing on PS5 and have shifted toward redeeming and accessing PS5 titles”, this decision does make sense but it is still worth remembering that not everyone has access to the latest console. As a result, the news was not received well when it hit social media over the weekend.Twitter user RetroGamerKong said, “Sony is addicted to Ls. Canceled my subscription, and they are doing everything in their power to let me know I made the right call. I was debating about going back one day, but this killed it.”AdvertAnother user agreed, saying, “What? Why? I was just starting to get into PS5 coming from PC and loved all the cool games on Premium+.”With a year to go until this new rule comes into play, let us hope that Sony has a change of heart and considers its player base rather than its pockets.Topics: Playstation Plus, PlayStation, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, SonyAdvertAdvertAdvert
