NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 Starts To See “Scalper Listings” Surface Up; Prices Going As High As $7,000 – Wccftech
NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 has already started to witness listings at “scalper prices,” indicating a similar fiasco to what we saw with previous-gen releases.Well, right around the launch time of new GPUs, it is pretty ordinary to see individuals trying to take pre-orders of the upcoming SKUs in an attempt to capitalize on the market “FOMO” situation. We have seen multiple occasions in the past where there have been “presale campaigns” for NVIDIA’s GPUs, notably the flagship model, and it seems like the trend looks to continue with the RTX Blackwell series. New listings on eBay now show several GeForce RTX 5090 retailing at absurd prices, and interestingly, some of them claim to have “exclusive” access to units. It is pretty easy to get into such scams, considering that not only do these listings look legit, but sellers often have great reviews, which makes an average consumer believe that they will get the mentioned SKU, only to be either frauded or see a delayed delivery if you are lucky. Interestingly, in some listings, the prices are way too absurd, going up to $7,000, more than three times the GPU MSRP is priced at. Variants such as the ASUS ROG Astral and the Founders Edition are more common simply because there are more official images of the SKUs available to lure in customers.Regardless of the presale scams, we expect NVIDIA’s RTX 5090 to have tight availability since Team Green verified this. Moreover, we recently reported on how Team Green has decided to “nitpick” retail distribution to prevent scalpers from getting access to the initial inventory early on, so it will be interesting to see if it works out. Considering that the supply would be tight, initial “legit” listings will indeed come with inflated prices, so this must be taken into account if you are looking to acquire NVIDIA’s flagship RTX Blackwell GPU on day one.We don’t advise our readers to go into any of these presale listings, hoping to get a GPU out of them since, in most cases, they are simply fraudulent listings. The best way to access an SKU around the launch date is by pre-ordering it from reputable retailers or visiting physical stores to see if inventory is available.News Source: VideocardzSome posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links.
