NVIDIA’s flagship RTX Blackwell SKU has seen massive demand worldwide, ultimately prompting prices to rise to tremendous levels. Now, in Taiwan, it is said that the GeForce RTX 5090 costs up to $9,100, that too through scalper listings. We were indeed aware of the fact that the GeForce RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080 would be pretty low in supply, considering that the initial batch of SKUs was pretty limited, and Team Green, this time, decided to nitpick retailers responsible for selling out the initial inventory, making things more complicated for an average consumer. In such situations, scalpers try to benefit the most, which is why, in Taiwan, it is now reported (via CNA) that the GeForce RTX 5090 sells up to NT $300,000 ($9,100), while inventory from authorized retailers is almost out.Taiwan is considered a key area for NVIDIA’s consumer GPU market, and given the supply situation there, we can only assume that other markets have seen a much more disappointing fiasco. It is claimed that the supply in Taiwan for the initial SKUs was in “single-digits,” and given that the Chinese New Year is ongoing as well, the next batch of inventory would come much later. The situation is similar in regions like the US, where scalper listings have taken all over eBay.Browsing on the e-commerce platform, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 could be seen to retail for as high as $9,000, with many of them selling “pre-order” slots, which is certainly interesting to see. Along with this, there are many fishy listings selling the GPU at MSRP, which is almost impossible in modern-day markets. In such a situation, we expect consumers to proceed with caution and to acquire the SKUs from official retail channels rather than platforms such as eBay and Craigslist. We expect supply to improve weeks after the official launch, most likely by the end of February to mid-March, but that isn’t certain for now. Given that AMD’s RX 9070 series launch is right around the corner, the market will definitely see more competition, which could translate to inventory being out for a longer period. Some posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links.
