Nintendo Switch 2 Hands-On Invites Go Out to Fans Today – IGN
Nintendo has today invited fans from across the world to get hands-on with the Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of its release. Those who registered for a hands-on event, which are taking place in the U.S. in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas, have taken to social media to celebrate receiving an invitation or to share their misery at missing out.”Congratulations! You are going to Nintendo Switch 2 Experience: Los Angeles,” reads the successful email, as shared by @thealogian on Bluesky. “We look forward to seeing you there,” Nintendo added. It’s still unclear what Nintendo will showcase at the events, though as they take place after the April Nintendo Direct they could include games revealed there and not just Mario Kart 9, the only one revealed so far.The New York event takes place from April 4 to 6, the Los Angeles event from April 11 to 13, and the Dallas event from April 25 to 27. Only U.S. residents were permitted to apply, with results determined via random selection. Those not in the U.S. with an invite will attend events in Toronto, Canada from April 25, to 27, plus European locations including Paris from April 4 to 6, London from April 11 to 13, Milan from April 25 to 27, Berlin from April 25 to 27, Madrid from May 9 to May 11, and Amsterdam from May 9 to 11. Nintendo is also visiting Melbourne from May 10 to 11, Tokyo from April 26 to 27, Seoul from May 31 to June 1, and Hong Kong and Taipei at later dates.Though these latter two are yet to be announced, some suggest their timing means the actual Switch 2 release will come after. The release date was narrowed down again by Greedfall 2 publisher Nacon, who said the Switch 2 will launch before the end of September. This creates a potential four-month release window for the highly anticipated Nintendo hardware, though an official release date likely won’t arrive for a few months. The Switch 2 was revealed earlier in January with a brief trailer that confirmed backwards compatibility features and the addition of a second USB-C port. Most details, such as its other games and what the heck the mysterious new Joy-Con button does, were left out, though the Joy-Con mouse theory did gain a little traction.Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He’ll talk about The Witcher all day.
