PORTLAND, Ore. — Milwaukie-based Dark Horse Comics has dropped Neil Gaiman in the wake of sexual assault allegations brought against the author. “Dark Horse takes seriously the allegations against Neil Gaiman and we are no longer publishing his works,” the publisher posted on X late Friday night. “Confirming that the ‘Anansi Boys’ comic series and collected volume have been cancelled.”Gaiman, 64, has denied allegations of sexual misconduct, saying “I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.,” he posted on his personal blog on Jan. 14. Claims against the “Sandman” and “Coraline” author first came to light in July in a podcast, where two woman accused Gaiman of sexual assault. Earlier this month, a New York Magazine and its website Vulture reported allegations from eight women, some of whom previously spoke on the podcast. Hillsboro’s Laika Studio adapted “Coraline” into an animated movie in 2009. Gaiman’s more recent work ‘Anansi Boys’ was adapted into a Prime TV series in 2022. Several of his other works, like the “Sandman” and “Dead Boy Detectives”, were both picked up by Netflix. The allegations against Gaiman include assault, abuse and coercion by the British author. Most of the allegations relate to occasions when Gaiman was in his 40s or older and living in the U.S, Britain and New Zealand.”As I reflect on my past – and as I re-review everything that actually happened as opposed to what is being alleged – I don’t accept there was any abuse,” Gaiman said. “To repeat, I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone.”Associated Press contributed reporting to this article.
