Let us know in the comments.[source my.nintendo.com]About Liam DoolanLiam is a news writer and reviewer for Nintendo Life and Pure Xbox. He’s been writing about games for more than 15 years and is a lifelong fan of Mario and Master Chief.Comments 20How about putting 3D All-Stars back on eShop?@rushiosan that’s hilarious.@Liam_Doolan I’m in the US and “this reward is no longer available” apparently…You will never see Xbox do this with Game Pass. Props to Ninty for this.@rushiosan I agree, it’s only for 14 days, it wouldn’t hurt Nintendo to at least let their customers who had recently pick up a Switch to get a chance to buy the digital collection. Heck they should had at least done this once every year so people get a chance to nab the digital collection when the availability happen. At least that would make the lazy digital collection worth something for a bit.I first thought the MK8 post said that the reward was 310 Gold points. If that were the case, I would lose it.@rushiosan …why did I trade in that game to GameStop? So it’s a global event but only the US will get the 310 Platinum Points 🤔Yeah, weird that only those “in the Americas” will get the Platinum Points for the global 8 Deluxe Challenge…Anyway, happy for those without NSO who will make use of the free trial!@batmanbud2
Been plenty of $1 for a month, and free 14 day trials on Xbox Game Pass.
So nice try.So, Nintendo will allow me to use my own internet with my own electronic device for free? Very generous. Letting me borrow the really old games for a couple of weeks instead of honoring my purchases on older systems is also so very generous.@Moistnado oh stop ya moaning, they’re offering a service , whether you take it up or not is a choice.Nintendo paywalling online (even if it’s only $25 a year) seems like a huge mistake in my book – personally I find myself using Steam Deck and Series X a lot more than Switch largely because I don’t wanna pay for online. With the abundance of handhelds that can stream Xbox Series consoles nearly flawlessly, the Switch really shouldn’t be billing for online. By all means leave the Nintendo classics collection behind a paywall, but making Splatoon and Mario Kart functionally nearly worthless isn’t getting people like me to pick the Switch back up.@batmanbud2 What a load of crap.1. Xbox often has free play days – that’s always how I enjoyed Overwatch before it became F2P. They also had a month of GP for $1 for forever, and constant free trials.2. Modern Game Pass, even Game Pass Core, blows Nintendo’s best online offerings out of the water.3. Check the comments here and elsewhere – almost nobody can get this offer to even work.@Flem9000 Please enlighten us, what “service” are the offering? Because from where I sit it’s little more than allowing me access to a bunch of old games, all of which that I cared about I already obtained on VC. Beyond that, what service is there?By all means, paywall access to the retro collections. But locking out most of the functionality of games I already bought like Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8, and Rocket League (before it went F2P) is just spitting in our faces. I despised it when Xbox did it, and it was the deciding factor in my never getting a PS4. But Nintendos online has objectively always been a much worse value proposition. Charging for it is scummy as can be.The fact multiple of you think it’s scummy for a company to charge you for access to servers they have to maintain to play games online is hilarious. So you think these companies should just have an expense to make online games happen and you’re just supposed to benefit from it?The entitlement is so strong. I hope you folks are just older or something because the next generation has enough problems without this level of self serving attitude also embedded in it.@StewdaMegaManNerd Do you have to buy the laughably overpriced tier to access the GBA games? If not Mario Advance and Mario Advance 4 are pretty close to All Stars 2/3. Some of the extra levels in SMA4 also recreate levels from SMB, although I found those bonus levels as a whole highly overrated. You do have to deal with those abysmal voices though, they get less annoying as your brain learns to tune them out@Bluerangervegeta obviously I didn’t do my research, but saying Game Pass still far exceed NSO is laughable. It’s far more pricey, and the only reason I would get it is for Halo and Rare. Nothing else Game Pass has to offer ever appealed to me when I had it, not to mention it took up so much space (in comparison to the NSO apps, which are mere specks on a 256 GB SD card). What’s worse is that any game on Game Pass is at far more risk of being removed than anything on NSO.@Bluerangervegeta I’m talking about 3D All-Stars (it’s Mario All-Stars but not as refreshed, and it has the first three 3D Mario games, which is a great deal). You can’t buy that game digitally anymore, and if you want it physical, off to eBay with you. Also, I didn’t bother renewing NSO + Expansion Pack, it just isn’t worth it for me. And yeah, first thing I noticed with Mario Advance 4 was how annoying Mario was. “Yahoo, just what I neeeedeed! I got it!” If he had sounded that way in the movie, it would’ve been an automatic -10/10 for me.@Bluerangervegeta they are offering people like me the chance to play older games, some of which I’m enjoying for the first time without having to pay over the top on eBay for. If they’d brought back the VC, there would still be people complaining that they had to buy the games again etc. if you’ve already got them on your Wii vac, then play them on there. It’s my choice to pay for this service, a service they are offering not demanding you have for the console to actually work. You want the services, you gotta pay. I’ve not really noticed game functionality being locked out, I guess not being an online gamer as much doesn’t really bother me, but the service is there for me if I want it and pay for it@rushiosan Mario 3D All-Stars is my only physical game.
