DALLAS — The news that Dallas Mavericks’ star player Luka Doncic was being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers sent shockwaves through the sports world this weekend. Since then, former Mavs player Chandler Parsons has shared more about how he says Doncic and former Mavs owner Mark Cuban reacted to the trade themselves.Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris were traded to the Lakers in exchange for the Lakers’ Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick in a move confirmed Saturday night. The trade was a three-team deal that also included the Utah Jazz.Parsons said on his show on FanDuel Sports Network that Doncic cried after he heard he was being traded.“You just don’t do this out of nowhere, right? I think they obviously see something that the average person – that we don’t see for them to move on just that quickly and that easy of a talent like Luka Doncic,” he said. “Apparently [Luka] cried when he found out.”“I don’t like this narrative that Luka’s like Zion [Williamson] all of a sudden…he plays, he’s available,” Parsons added. “All of a sudden we’re nitpicking Luka who just remember last season [brought] the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals.”Parsons said he took issue more, though, with how the trade was handled by the organization more than the decision itself, and that other teams may have offered more in exchange for Luka.“My biggest issue is professionally, respectfully how they handled that,” he said.As for Mark Cuban, who sold his majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks to Las Vegas casino magnate Miriam Adelson and her family, who own the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, Parsons suggested the blockbuster trade came as a surprise to him, too.Parsons said he texted Cuban about the trade.“I texted [Cuban] and I said ‘I’m so confused,’ and he wrote back, ‘that makes two of us,’” Parsons said. “That kind of tells you right there he wasn’t involved.”Next up in 5Example video title will go here for this videoNext up in 5Example video title will go here for this videoIn Other News
