Lakers Notes: Doncic, Adams, Centers, Vincent, Kleber – hoopsrumors.com

The Lakers‘ shocking acquisition of Luka Doncic landed the team its next franchise player, but it left the roster with a hole at center in the short term, general manager Rob Pelinka acknowledged on Tuesday. As Jovan Buha of The Athletic tweets, Pelinka mentioned versatility, mobility, and verticality as some of the traits the team is looking for as it peruses the trade market for a big man after sending Anthony Davis to Dallas.“We know we have a need for a big,” Pelinka said, per Sam Amick of The Athletic. “The market for bigs right now, leading into the last two or three days of the trade deadline, is very dry. There’s just not a lot available. So maybe we’ll be able to do some stuff around the margins.“I would say, in terms of a big move for that position, it’s probably more realistic that that would be something that comes in the offseason. But Luka will be at the center of that, as we build for the long term.”According to Amick, the Lakers have been in touch with the Rockets about big man Steven Adams, who is on an expiring $12.6MM contract. There’s no momentum toward an agreement, but the fact that Los Angeles is eyeing players like Adams reflects Pelinka’s comments about potentially targeting a stop-gap option for now and making a bigger move in the summer, Amick notes.Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber, both of whom have $11MM cap hits this season and are under contract for one more year, are being shopped as the Lakers look for a center, per Amick. However, Kleber’s salary can’t be aggregated for matching purposes prior to Thursday’s deadline, which may rule out the possibility of acquiring a player like Clint Capela ($22.3MM), Amick adds. Here’s more on the Lakers:How about this? Lakers overpay
Dalton and Vincent for AdamsThird team to take Dalton and Vincent, then offer a player Rockets likeNoYesOrKleber and Dalton to third team
Lakers get AdamsHouston aren’t giving Lakers Adams. Houston will need that veteran presence come playoff time. Lakers are possibly direct competition.Dalton isn’t going anywhere. In fact, if Reeves is traded then Dalton would be his replacement from a shooting perspective.Sillivan, how is Dalton and Vincent overpay? Dalton is nice but unproven and the Rockets have a ton of those guys. Then Vincent is owed $11 million next year? Definitely not an overpay. Actually makes zero sense from the Rockets perspective.I’d call the Blazers before Houston for a center.Best Center Lakers can get now. And stay relevant is in Washington.
Why is Vincent even on this team. Never use him.
Looez in Milwaukee would be nice for LA. And Bucks could use Vincent. Of course it has to be more than Vincent.I don’t think Jonas for $10 per year over the next two after this is an attractive acquisition target. Not only is he the cheapest out there. His stats for the money is great. And playing with those two is easy. Not many options out there. And he can always be moved next yr.LeBron is 6’10 and strong. He can play center for 20-25 mins. Here are the benefits:1. At his age he doesn’t need to chase around young guys on the wings.
2. Biggest benefit is the advantage the lakers will have on offense. If you play Luka, LeBron, Reeves, Rui and DFS, who is the center going to guard? They are all great 3 point shooters and on close outs can drive inside. Vanderbilt is the only weak link there so he can’t play since the centers can stay back off of him.
Ego is Divac, Hartenstein, etc going to guard on defense? It will force the other teams to go small too, and then the lakers will have a huge advantage. It’s def not ideal , or long term viable but for the next 35 games it just might be the best option* much rattler this than be strapped with a guy like Val or Rob willams on next years payroll via tradeNot 6’10 and soft but anyways.Dang…I thought the dude on the left was Rob Lowe.LD looks not happyThere are tradeable centers all over the place. What is Pelinka is talking about.I know he is not the answer, but Jaxon Hayes is kind of good with Luka…so they don’t have to go completely small ball.. they need someone to play 20-25 mins even…Adams would be great… Drummond..Olynyk…vallentunethis..I wonder if Brook Lopez is an idea? I don’t know if Milwaukee would part with him though, and its not like they have a backup center.Adams would be a great fill in centre.
Arguably one of the best screeners in the league, great at collecting offensive rebounds and great at boxing out on defensive rebounds (although doesn’t collect to many himself). Great rocker room guy, good for culture, positive energy and all that. He’s just one of those guys you’d rather have on your team than be up againstAnd that’s exactly why he stays in Houston. Logging minutes with Sengun dealing with injury issuesWhat about Jusuf Nurkić?Did anyone else notice Rob Pelinka NEVER mentioned Lebron at the Luka press conference…I noticed that also…. surely means something right…Please login to leave a reply.Log in Register
