See our ethics statement. The new game releases this week are full of action in different flavors. You can travel back in time and pick up a sword, strap on a guitar and noodle away monsters, or fight literal boredom as you wait for a bus to arrive. Or you can skip all that and be a spell-thirsty witch. It’s a big week for RPG and puzzle fans who want to play something a little outside the norm. The week starts off strong with Spirit Swap: Lofi Beats to Match-3 To, a gem-matching game with an adorable art style. The long-awaited sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance drops right after, with an even bigger open world to explore. And near the end of the week, you can risk it all on a slot machine roguelike deck builder called Luck Be a Landlord — a game that heavily inspired our 2024 Game of the Year, Balatro, and is now being released on new platforms. Here are our most anticipated game releases for the week of Feb. 3.Release date: Feb. 3Platforms: Windows PCThis puzzle-slash-visual-novel game has a solid pitch: “Cast spells, be queer, and crash the biggest concert of the year!” You play as a witch with the power to create spells based on what gems, or spirits, you match. As you chill to the music, there are other witches and demons to chat with and maybe kiss. And all of it is rendered in a bright, charming 2D art style.Release date: Feb. 4Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Windows PCThis one’s a brutal action RPG set in an open-world medieval Europe. You’re the son of a blacksmith who took up the sword to avenge your parents. The story is driven by your choices and how you fare in its first-person combat, be it on foot or on a horse.Release date: Feb. 5Platforms: Windows PCThe popular rhythm game is back in a new format. This time it plays like Guitar Hero with notes on a fretboard flying in. But you’re not just playing incredible songs; you’re also fighting off monsters. And just like with the previous games, there’s full mod support for custom songs.Release date: Feb. 5Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Windows PCWhat is gaming if not waiting? This is a game that makes passing time the whole point. The goal is to keep yourself entertained with frivolous activities while you wait for an elevator, a bus, or the car in front of you to finally move.Release date: Feb. 6Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series XYou owe your landlord money in this game, but you’re broke. So you do what any irresponsible person would do and hit the slots. This is a roguelite deck-building game where you can manipulate the slot symbols every run and try to earn as much money as you can, and now it’s on even more platforms. Plus, the creator of Balatro loves it.Release date: Feb. 6Platforms: Windows PCThis gloomy roadtrip management RPG is about making what little you have last as long as possible. The drive is procedurally generated and prompts you with roadblocks and hitchhikers as you go. It’s a short experience made to be replayed so you can see how each decision you make affects the journey.Release date: Feb. 7Platforms: Windows PCIf it wasn’t clear from the title, this is a game about digging a hole. That hole goes deep, possibly to the other side of the world. Or not. That’s for you to find out in this game that is described as “not The Witcher 4” but one that could be The Witcher 4 of games about digging holes. The best of Polygon in your inbox, every Friday.© 2025 Vox Media, LLC.
