AUSTIN, Texas — Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano is recovering after she said she was shot in her eye recently in Austin.Romano, best known for her roles as the voice of “Kim Possible” and as Ren Stevens in “Even Stevens,” said she was celebrating her husband’s birthday recently by taking him to shoot clay pigeons as a present.According to Romano, another party nearby “unsafely fired in the wrong direction” and hit her in multiple places, which lodged a fragment behind her eye. That’s when Romano said her husband jumped into action and rushed her to the hospital.”I’m grateful to first responders as a whole,” Romano said. “They’re just amazing, superhero-like people. I’m grateful to St. David’s South here in Austin.”Romano also said she was told that the fragment behind her eye was “too risky to remove surgically at this time” and that she would continue to be monitored. However, Romano said she can still see normally at the moment.Romano and her husband, film producer Brendan Rooney, relocated from Los Angeles to Austin during the pandemic.
