Amy Pascal and David Heyman have closed their deals to steer the 007 franchise for Amazon MGM Studios now that Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have handed over creative control of the iconic spy.For what will be the studio’s upcoming James Bond film, which would be 007’s 26 entry and feature the 7th Bond, Pascal will produce through her Pascal Pictures banner, and Heyman will produce via Heyday Films. “We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility,” said Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Film, Courtenay Valenti. “Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry. Since Amazon’s acquisition of MGM back in 2022 for $8.5 billion, the studio has yet to make progress on a new Bond since 2021’s final Daniel Craig entry “No Time to Die,” and the Broccolis had experienced creative friction with the studio over the future direction of him, despite a handful of other unscripted Bond projects that popped up.Now though 007 is in the hands of producers who have handled “Spider-Man,” “Harry Potter,” and so many more mega properties. Pascal, the former Sony chief, has since leaving that role produced the MCU “Spider-Man” movies with Tom Holland and is working on the upcoming fourth film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, and she’s also produced the “Spider-Verse” movies, with the third one in the works. She’s previously paired with Amazon MGM Studios for the next film from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, “Project Hail Mary” starring Ryan Gosling, which is currently in post. She also produced “Challengers,” which Amazon MGM released last year. She’s also working on Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia” movie and Noah Baumbach’s next movie “Jay Kelly” starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler also for Netflix.

Heyman is deep in the works on the TV series adaptation of the Harry Potter books, and he previously produced the eight feature films and the three “Fantastic Beasts” films. Some of his other notable titles include “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood,” “Marriage Story,” “Gravity,” “Barbie,” “Paddington 2,” and “Wonka.” He’s also working on Taika Waititi’s next project, “Klara and Sun” starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams” and Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly” alongside Pascal.
