Hollow Knight: Silksong Dev Trolls Fans with Delicious Chocolate Cake – Push Square

Having tortured its fanbase for years with an admirably lackadaisical pace of development, the devs are now trolling players with a picture of a piece of chocolate cake. This latest development started cooking on Reddit a few days ago (thanks, IGN), where it was noted that Team Cherry director William Pellen had changed the profile picture of his X / Twitter profile to an image of a slice of creamy, delicious-looking chocolate cake. With the benefit of hindsight, it appears that Pellen was, in a roundabout way, hyping up the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 at the time.A reverse image search determined that the cake in question was, in fact, a Brooklyn Blackout Cake from the cooking website Bon Appétit. Now, prepare for the inevitable conspiracy that must come with anything Silksong; the recipe was published 2nd April 2024. Why does that matter? Only because the Nintendo Direct for the recently-revealed Switch 2 has been confirmed for the same day in 2025, of course!MetamorphosisClearly, this must be the long-awaited, final, for-real-this-time return of Hollow Knight: Silksong. How baked do you think this theory is; at least half, right? Continue to wait in the comments section below patiently.[source reddit.com, via ign.com]About Khayl AdamKhayl Adam is Push Square’s roving Australian correspondent, a reporter tasked with scouring the internet for the richest, most succulent PlayStation stories. It’s been longer than I thought.I hope this game lives up to people’s expectations after all this time. We’re never getting this game, never.I have hopes it’ll release this year but even that’s just slim.Surprised I’m the first with a “The cake is a lie!” joke.Feels like it’s never gunna come at this point 😭 oh well we got ender magnolia n tails of iron 2 soon as least 😎The game is a eternal meme at this point…@JustinZed Damn. Came to the comments to say this. They are going to announce tomorrow that the whole project was a lie and announce a new game entirely.”an admirably lackadaisical pace of development”I don’t think that’s fair. Just because it’s been a long time and we haven’t see or heard things doesn’t mean they’ve been lazy and half-hearted about development. They’ve probably been working very hard on things behind the scenes.Only Silksong fans can get overly hyped for a slice of cake…
I wonder what would happen if Rockstar posted a pic of a line of flour on a table or a half-eaten rotten burrito after so much radio-silenceIs this their way of saying the game is only half-baked (unlike that delicious slice of cake)…Quite sad state of affairs where Team Cherry are clearly a victim of their own success. We’ve passed the point of diminishing returns probably 3 years ago. Now there is no way the game will live up to its (perceived) promise. Now I want chocolate cake…They are tasting it! Cake is done, just needs the CHERRY on top.@JustinZed Was going to comment the same thing, but you beat me to it!
