Henry Cavill Tops James Bond Candidate Poll – Dark Horizons

Within around an hour or so of the surprise news hitting that Amazon had taken full creative control of the James Bond franchise, Amazon multi-billionaire boss Jeff Bezos posted a question for his followers on X.The question – who do they think should play James Bond in the future? Many of the names mentioned were familiar and had long been cited as potential candidates in the past including Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.However, one name seemed to come up easily more than anyone else. IGN ran a subsequent poll which saw over 61,000 people voting in, and again the same name came to the fore – former “Man of Steel” and “The Witcher” star Henry Cavill.
In the latter poll, Cavill walked away with 54.3% of the vote – easily beating the next nearest contenders like Elba at 17.2% and Hardy at 8.1%.Cavill was famously up for the role back when “Casino Royale” was cast in 2005 but was considered too young at the time. Currently aged 41, he’s a bit too old to play a Bond in his formative years – though could play one that’s already active. Dalton first played Bond at 41 in “The Living Daylights,” Brosnan at 42 in “Goldeneye”, and Moore at 45 in “Live and Let Die”.With long-term Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson stepping back and Amazon potentially exploring multiple directions for the franchise, Cavill’s chances of taking on the role appear to have grown.Cavill is already working with Amazon, having signed on to produce a “Warhammer 40,000” TV series for the streamer in the near future.
