Sometimes, it transferred files fast, and sometimes, it was quite slow. Since being rebranded to Quick Share, it has improved a lot. Now, it is getting a feature inspired by Samsung.
Android’s stock Quick Share borrows internet-based file transfer from Samsung’s Quick Share
Google has released the first Google Play System update for February 2025. It brings Google Play Services version 25.04, among other things. With the update, when Quick Share transfers a file over a direct (local Wi-Fi) connection, and the connection drops for some reason, it can use the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to continue the transfer.
This feature was released by Samsung with One UI 7.0 beta. Now, it has appeared in Android’s stock Quick Share system.
This will prevent file transfer failures if the direct connection drops. However, if the internet connection is slow, the transfers could take a long time. It is worth mentioning that the new feature could result in higher internet charges if you don’t have an unlimited data plan. Let’s hope that Google gives an option to disable this feature.
