Samsung recently announced its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series with some design changes on the outside but major performance gains on the inside. If you have been following the news, the device is an ‘S’ year upgrade for the mighty Galaxy S25 Ultra, as it brings incremental changes on a hardware level. The latest durability test of the Galaxy S25 Ultra shows some downsides of the device, including the detaching camera rings, which appear to be only for esthetics. In a new durability test conducted by JerryRigEverything on YouTube, the Galaxy S25 Ultra brings several downgrades compared to its predecessor. For instance, the lack of Bluetooth in the S Pen and display that can easily scratch at level 6 has raised some durability concerns. In his latest test of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, JerryRigEverything reveals that the Galaxy S25 Ultra has worse scratch resistance than its predecessor. The Galaxy S24 Ultra was one of the best smartphones to feature better scratch resistance than its competition. Some users could be disappointed with the latest feat as the older version was superior in this regard and could opt for a downgrade. The scratch test shows that the glass on the Galaxy S25 Ultra scratches at level 6, with deeper grooves at level 7. The YouTuber claims that the company could have dialed back on the hardness with the Gorilla Armor 2, and it remains to be seen what the company has to say about it.The device’s overall quality has also been compromised with the Samsung branding on the back. The logo appears to be misaligned, which is not technically an issue but shows a lack of attention to detail. It is not clear whether the misaligned Samsung branding is present on all units of the Galaxy S25 Ultra or if it is the case with this specific unit. The lack of Bluetooth on the S Pen has left many users wondering why the company removed it from the accessory. The removal of Bluetooth also eliminated various features, including the ability of the S Pen to act as a camera shutter button when taking a picture from afar. Possibly, the company exclusively wants the Galaxy Ring to have this feature, but we are not sure if that is the case.Lastly, the durability test of the Galaxy S25 Ultra also shows that the pronounced camera rings on the back can be detached easily. The camera rings are glued but slightly hovered from the surface of the glass and can be pried out with a sharp tool, which goes on to show that the company has compromised the one change that made the S25 Ultra different from the previous model. The slightly raised camera rings would also allow the dust to be easily collected underneath.Overall, we can see that Samsung has made various compromises with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, especially when it comes to the device’s durability. However, the device also comes with a wide range of improvements on the inside, which would easily make it a promising successor to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, including the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and the new Galaxy AI features.
