Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Finally Lands New May Release Date – Nintendo Life

GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpNintendo LifeGuestLogin or Sign UpLet’s hope it can stick this oneAfter a handful of delays, Level-5 has today announced the new new release date for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, which we can now expect to put down roots on Switch on 21st May 2025.This highly anticipated life-sim has felt like a long time coming. Initially announced in the 2023 February Direct, The Girl Who Steals Time was billed for a release later that year before being pushed to Summer 2024. This date then moved to October ’24, before a further delay moved things to an April 2025 window. Phew.So yes, it’s with some hesitancy that we look towards the new May launch date, but the accompanying trailer has us hopeful nonetheless. The new footage (which appears to mainly be taken from the PS5 version) provides a rundown of the game’s story, ‘Life’ job system, customisation and more. It looks increasingly like Animal Crossing: New Horizons every time we see it — particularly with all that terraforming — but that’s no bad thing. The new trailer also clarifies that that game will support cross-save and cross-progression at launch, with two-player local co-op and four-player online play also included. Heck, there’s even set to be a Digital Deluxe Edition, which packs in bonus outfits, weapons and a dragon.Let’s hope Fantasy Life i can stick the landing on this new date, eh? If anything, we just want Level-5 to be able to give us more info on Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam!Stealing more timeWill you be picking up Fantasy Life i later this year? Let us know in the comments.[source youtube.com]About Jim NormanJim came to Nintendo Life in 2022 and, despite his insistence that The Minish Cap is the best Zelda game and his unwavering love for the Star Wars prequels (yes, really), he has continued to write news and features on the site ever since.Comments 42So let me get this straight, they kept constantly delaying the game for Switch owners just so they could make it multiplat, now they announce a “Digital Deluxe Edition” that comes with 3 Day Early Access for literally every single new platform they announced – except Switch? Is this some kind of joke?Update:
Physical version is now canceled for the west and the game is now 10$/€ more expensive on Switch to subsidize the game going multiplat. The absolute state of Level-5.This now looks much more polished. It wasn’t on my radar, but I’m now really looking forward to it. I’ll still wait to see what the reviews are like as Level-5 seems to be biting more than they can chew, but I’m cautiously optimistic.I’m glad they made it cross-play so I can just buy it on Steam and not have to worry about not being able to play with my other Switch friends.Really not a fan of the whole early access for an additional cost thing though. Feels like a really scummy practice in general and even worse that it’s not even an option on every platform.I hope it gets a native Switch 2 version as well (Or just improvements to the Switch version when played on 2). Would rather play it on switch 2 than on a Switch or Steam deck if possible!Well, time enough to beat XCX, I guessGames with female leading character for the win! it’s a great trend to have a bunch of plot important charismatic character who are actually charismatic.I’m glad Deluxe edition has nothing worthwhile, so its digitallness is a nonissue.I’m going to guess that this and Layton 8 will be the Nintendo “first party releases” for Switch in their respective months. Since Level-5 can’t do their own international publishing anymore after… 1 game almost killed them@Solid_Python Where did you get no physical version for the West? All of our retailers still have it listed. If you’re right then the game is skip for me unfortunately.Seems Level 5 is breaking up fully with Nintendo. The Switch version of Fantasy life will now come out later than early access for Xbox, PS and Steam. So Nintendo have gone from main partner of Level 5 to now being on a lower level of priority for Level 5 than even Xbox.@SigmaNoire it looks like Nintendo was supposed to handle physical distribution in the west but now any mention of physical pre-orders is gone from the official websites, there must’ve been a falling out.Only the Japanese website mentions getting physical copies on Switch and PS5 meaning Level-5 must be handling it by themselves and only for Japan.Yes, it’s official now. 😊I will get the PS5 version for sure.I don’t understand. I feel like I’ve been hearing about a sequel to Fantasy Life for much longer than 2023🤔Maybe I must be misremembering something, but I feel like I have heard about this game like 4-5 years ago lol@TommyTendo you may have heard about the separate mobile game which has long ended service by now.@TommyTendo There is/was a mobile game that’s been around for a while.Anyway, I was willing to give Level-5 the benefit of the doubt because Fantasy Life was my favorite 3DS game, but with them screwing over Switch players with the early access thing, the apparently increased price, and especially no physical version, I’m out. They never inspired much confidence the way they’re operating and I don’t feel like supporting this anymore when they so clearly don’t care.Overall looks great and there’s a lot to it so I couldn’t care less that it’s further delayed (although luckily only relatively slightly so), so looking forward to it – fingers crossed it will run decently also on Switch and even better on the successor!Super happy about the cross play support as I can play the PS5 version whilst the misses can play the Switch version. But, what an absolute joke that it’s now confirmed to be digital only and more expensive for Switch players, what a way to stab your original loyal fans in the back.@SigmaNoire It’s confirmed on Gematsu, they say it’s now a digital only release in the west. One of my most anticipated games of 2025.’All platforms’ May 21. And before they mentioned the game was delayed because of ‘new hardware’.So… Switch 2 release in May? 🤔@UltimateOtaku91 Dang, hopefully PlayAsia gets an international versionNo physical, no buy. This is a lot of hoopla over a remastered 3DS game with very minimal DLCyet another delay, a price increase, cancelled physical version, and releasing 3 days earlier on other platforms with a scummy digital deluxe edition… yeah im one of the biggest fantasy life fans out there and theyve lost my custom. i cant in good conscience give this company money, im really hoping they end up going out of business at this stage. they have no respect for their customers anymore. hell, i found out through the new fli news that theyve been using generative ai for other games, i feel really bad for everyone whos wasting their time and energy working for this company@SpaceboyScreams It isn’t a 3DS remaster, it’s a new current-gen entry in the series.God DAMMIT! All that waiting only to not get a physical version. One of the worst feelings in the world for me, personally, and now I’ll have to pass. And I was so excited for this game…It looks likes it actually might release!! I wonder if that new yokai watch game is still gonna happen? No offense to Xbox but how the heck are they getting it before the Switch. I never liked the original so I’m content skipping this.So the physical release will be Japan version only? Gosh… Time to get used to again looking at Japanese letters like I did from Yokai Watch 3 Tempura.Digital edition gets extra crap…I’m seriously “starting” to hate this!Same crap like XenoBlade X@Solid_Python What? That’s even worse!Where did you see this?@TommyTendo There was supposed to be a sequel then it got turned into a phone “game” then removed, reworked into an even worse phone “game” and now this one@FishyS No, the new platforms were NoGameStation 5 and Series X/SSo, bringing this game to all other platforms was the reason for the multiple “delays”?

I mean, I’m happy that this game is getting released to many other platforms so that more people can play it (especially with cross-play), but you promised Switch owners this game at October 10, 2024. Why not just release the Switch version then and bring it over to other platforms afterwards?

Either way, still getting this game on my Switch D1B, especially the Digital Deluxe version.Edit: This almost reminds of the Rayman Legends situation, where Ubisoft originally had the game set for Wii U back in February 2013 before delaying the game to September 2013 to release on other platforms, though Wii U owners at least got a early access demo a month prior to the game’s overall release. Please tell me I’m not the only person to remember this, guys…I’ll still be too busy with XCX DE to worry about this game, so I’ll wait until summer or sale to get this. This one was never on my radar, but I recall hearing and seeing great things about the original 3DS game. While I’m glad it’s going multiplatform, the rest of the information is kind of a slap in the face to Switch owners IMO. Early access on the other platforms, digital only, and multiple delays.I was very happy to FINALLY have a release date, but… What the hell are they doing?? No physical, really?? Well, I’m afraid this won’t be a day one, then. I’ll wait for a sale, I never pay 60€ for digital games.1 day before it’s supposed to release, it’ll be delayed to 2026.Isn’t that one of the dates proposed by internet theorists for the launch of Switch 2?I wanted to buy two physical copies to play local coop with multiple switch with my son, we do this with snack world and it great. With the multi now it seems it coop online only or two player on one console but the second player can’t use his character…. Nope that bad and the last nail in the coffin is that it’s digital only. Didn’t they learn with the release of megaton musashi that it was a bad idea. 10 years I’ve been waiting for this sequel now it’s a pass I’ll wait for it to be on a deep sale. Level 5 fell so low what a disappointment.@Solid_Python And on top of this, Level 5 is making their games with Generative Ai. I don’t know if this game was tainted by it, but Holy Horror Mansion, Decapolice, and Iazuma have been.@Solid_Python I’m holding out hope that Nintendo renegotiated for a Switch 2 physical distribution and opted to neglect the Switch 1 version. This moves it off my day 1 list as I have other releases I will be playing. Maybe for my black friday haul this year.
