Exact time to see the rare “Blood Moon” of the spectacular lunar eclipse that will reach the US – AS USA

AstronomyThe world has had to wait nearly three years to witness one of nature’s most spectacular phenomenon, a full lunar eclipse. What makes this astronomical event such a showstopper is that first the Moon begins to get progressively darker before it illuminates once again, but this time bathed in a red-orange glow. The sight of the “Blood Moon” throughout history for many cultures has been seen as a bad omen and foretold doom. However, on the flip side of the coin for others it signaled that fate was on their side. Two famous battles that shook the world were influenced by a Blood Moon, the victory of Alexander III of Macedon, soon to be ‘The Great’, over Emperor Darius III of Persia before the Battle Of Gaugamela in 331 BC and before the fall of Constantinople, the last bastion of the Roman Empire, to the Ottoman armies led by Sultan Mehmet II in 1453.Nowadays, most people have lost their superstitions surrounding eclipses of either the Sun or the Moon and we do our best to catch a glimpse of these heavenly wonders. Next month, Americans from coast to coast and beyond will have the opportunity to witness a magnificent Blood Moon, weather permitting that is.The Blood Moon lunar eclipse will take place “on the night of March 13 or early in the morning on March 14” depending on where you live in the United States. It will be visible across all of the Lower 48 and in the eastern half of Alaska. The show will get underway starting at 11:57 pm EDT/8:57 pm PDT when the Moon enters the Earth’s penumbra, which is the outer part of the shadow cast, it this case, by the Earth. The effect of the Moon dimming will be subtle at first. The Earth’s shadow on the Moon’s surface will become much more pronounced and darker when it enters the umbra, or inner shadow, and it will appear as if a bite is being taken out of the Moon starting at 1:09 am EDT/10:09 pm PDT.Totality is when the real show gets started, beginning at 2:26 am EDT/11:26 PDT. This is the phase where the Moon is completely emersed in the Earth’s inner shadow and the Moon will be tinted a coppery red color. If you plan to take pictures, more on that below, you’ll want to use a camera on a tripod and allow “exposures of at least several seconds,” says NASA.The maximum eclipse will be reached at 2:58 am EDT/11:58 pm PDT and will be over 33 minutes later. If you are looking to catch the perfect photo of the Blood Moon lunar eclipse there are some tools that can help you.
