Evidence Mounts for Seemingly Inevitable Persona 4 Remake on PS5 – Push Square

GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpPush SquareGuestLogin or Sign UpSigns of LoveIn good news for fans of great games, evidence continues to mount that Atlus is grinding away on the seemingly inevitable Persona 4 remake. Considering the 2024 remake, Persona 3 Reload, was the firm’s fastest-selling game to date, we’d believe that what is widely considered the best entry in the series would see similar treatment, and that was was before singer Shihoko Hirata began spilling the beans. The Gamer has been monitoring the situation and reporting on the growing mound of evidence. X user Rudiger did some digital detective work, noting that Hirata (whose vocal performances form an essential part of the P4 experience) has been back in the booth, specifically MIT Studio’s Studio 2 in Tokyo, where the vast majority of Persona soundtracks have been recorded over the past decade. Hirata revealed she’s been recording for an unannounced game, and Rudiger managed to deduce it was in the same studio seen in Persona 5 Strikers’ “Recording Making-of” documentary. If Hirata isn’t recording for a SEGA-specific game, such as Persona or Yakuza / Like a Dragon, it would mark the first time the studio has been used for an outside IP in years. The songstress has also been recently “liking” replies referencing Persona 4.Which tends to be lower than their contemporariesAlready surpassed one million unitsWhat do you think? So we have Majima in Hawaii, Sonic Kart and P4 Reload Remake.I feel like they risk over-exposing two of those franchises (Sonic is immune being a mascot like Mario)@breakneck Strong comment and fully agreeIf it is a remake, will it be like reload where the extras are dlc? So we won’t get goldens extra story@Shadcai that will be a di** move but they already have proven themselves to be able to walk things back like the ng+ scenarioI hope this is true. Even though Persona 5 is a better game in almost every way, and I loved P3R, Persona 4 Golden is still my favourite Persona game, and in my top 10 favourite games of all timeNo thank you. Remaking P3 at least made sense as it was the best entry in the series, and even that remake turned out to be a lazily made, incomplete cash grab. At this point I’d take nothing less than Persona 6 from Atlus.Oh jeez… Persona 1 and the Persona 2 duology need remakes, Persona 4 doesn’t!@Batesy125s I feel 3 and 4 had better stories than 5. 5 nailed the UI design and battle system (also I appreciated that it was a bit more forgiving with calendar management)4 doesn’t need a remake, the graphics and gameplay still hold up and everyone knows the twist and the secret endingI finished 4 a few months ago, I really don’t see why it needs to be remade? There’s nothing wrong with the current one and it’s easily accessible to everyone.I hope it’s Golden they’re remaking. I never played a Persona game until Golden on my Vita and I was addicted to that game. Absolutely loved everything about it and it is in my top favorite games of all time so I would be there day one for a remake, as long as it’s Golden remade. If not, I’ll wait for the inevitable remake of Golden because Atlus.Literally started a replay of PS4 Golden a few days agoA bit less needed this time around than 3 as 4 still plays great today. I get it though from a business standpoint. As long as P6 is coming hopefully here soon then I’m happy.Would be more interesting to see a remake of persona 1 & 2 👀Persona 1 and 2 need a remake way more than Persona 4.
These games deserve more love and attention.Doesn’t need a remake. They should move to 6. I’m still playing 3 tho.@Shadcai That was because they did a remake of the original P3 and not P3 FES.If they do a remake of P4 Golden then there’s no worries of that happeningFrom a business standpoint, remaking 4 over 1 or 2 just makes more sense. 1 & 2 would need some heavy retooling if they were to include social links.Making Yakuza a yearly franchise is a mistake. They are massive games and already recycle a mass amount of assets. Hell, I’m still waiting for one that looks like it was made from the ground up for PS4 tech because outside of cut scenes and main character models they could be PS3 games. Hawaii in the last one looked…ok but look out to sea and the little island has mario 64 trees on it 🤣 graphics aren’t even something I’m fussed about but It would be nice if it looked the part and had some sky in the, well skybox.Too soon! Persona 4 Golden still holds up really well. I’m also a bit afraid they might lose the David Lynch atmosphere if they make it too modern and flashy.Man i wish Atlus make Catherine 2. But i guess no one wants a puzzle game with mature story…I hope so, ever since the Persona Dancing games and seeing the P4 and P3 Casts in P5 levels of graphics/realistic proportions (as opposed to the Chibi like styling that OG P3/P4 used) I’ve wanted remakes of both… We have Persona 3 Reload so now we only need Persona 4. I’ve heard either Rewind or Rebroadcast (maybe another one or two, Replay may have been one actually) tossed around which would fit the whole TV aesthetic of P4.@PuppetMaster that would be amazing. The first one is still one of the most fun games, still play it every year.🎶 Every day’s great at your Junes 🎶Frankly, unless a P4 remake gets a female protagonist where Reload lost one, it might become every bit of a varying mileage value investment for a Switch or PS4/5 user. If anything, revisiting the earlier games again two (heck, soon-to-be three) generations later might turn more heads, especially since Eternal Punishment’s only western outing still dates even further back to PS1.I have been holding off in rebuying it on new systems cause of the inevitable remake. Still got my vita version and I feel like it’s worth a replay on the big screen, but after a remake. With that said… I won’t be happy if they carve out the golden version to sell as dlc. I don’t care about the answer in p3 cause it doesn’t matter and doesn’t really change anything, but the golden incorporates Marie from the beginning of the playthrough. It is not something that can just be added later without a completely new playthrough.I just started (for like the 3rd time) a Persona 4 Golden playthrough. Never completed it before. It’s hard to go back to the old style of gameplay/mechanics after playing P5 and P3 Reload, but the characters and the story are keeping me intrigued.I also wonder if I should just wait for this game to get announced and play that instead.it’s already readily available so why? give the “fans” what they want – a persona 2 remake!I am down for this, idk how people are saying the graphics hold up the game looks like what it always was, a PS2 game. If it gets an overhaul to look like P3 reload I would happily buy again@arsmolinarc with that way of thinking, they will never tackle persona 1/2 then… even though persona 2 in particular was tied with persona 3 for most deserving of a remake by the fans in a recent atlus questionaire (close to 80% or respondents voted for p3/p2). p2 should be next in line based on this data, otherwise why do they even bother?P4G was the main reason I bought a PS Vita, loved it but for some reason I was too busy to finish it so I never learned about the twist and the secret ending… I finished P3R in like a week.
Now P4 still on my backlog on PS5, and I will just wait for the remake me thinks. Although I really want Persona 6.@ThomasHL yeah I agree, the story and characters are the one area where I would put 5 behind the other 2 (only slightly mind you) but everything else was pretty much honed to perfection. Can’t wait for Persona 6, whenever we end up getting thatI wonder if they’d ever go back and remake Persona 1 or 2.I would to see this remade to the P3R/P5R level. I enjoyed Golden on the PS Vita back in the day and would love to revisit the world in a modern light.Played quite a good amount of P4 Golden on the PS vita but never got round to finishing it, was thinking of getting the re-release version for the PS4 but I think I’ll hold off doing so at the moment just in case they announce they are doing a remake of P4 Golden@Shadcai Yeah I pre-ordered reload but if they’re going to pull the same thing where the Marie version is DLC I’ll have to wait for the complete version.
