Dunkin’ dropped the latest installment from the “Dunkin’ Cinematic Universe” during the first commercial break of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
The epic and star studded 60-second clip — featuring original DunKing Ben Affleck back with a heavy Boston accent alongside new recruits like Casey Affleck and Jeremy Strong with surprise cameos from legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick (alongside girlfriend Jordon Hudson), Donnie Wahlberg, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes — is actually just a taste from a much longer seven-minute short film titled DunKings 2: The Movie.

The action opens with the Oscar-winning brothers chatting it up outside Casey’s dressing-room door as the older Affleck tries to convince him to join Java Jam: Battle of the Coffee Brand Bands. (As you may recall, Ben debuted as the DunKing during last year’s Super Bowl in a spot that found him chasing pop superstardom alongside longtime friend and business partner Matt Damon, Tom Brady, then-wife Jennifer Lopez, Jack Harlow and Fat Joe.) After Casey agrees, Ben keeps the dream alive and they head to the comic convention-style battleground where the bands face off for a new coveted coffee cup trophy. Helping to nail the atmosphere of such a convention are Smith and Mewes reprising their iconic roles as Jay and Silent Bob.
The Afflecks manage to convince a very method Strong to join their guy group. Strong’s scene, which finds the Succession star immersed in a coffee can and covered in beans and brown liquid, debuted a week ago during the Grammy Awards as a tease for the big game ad. But the expanded format finds him revealing his inspiration: “Dunkin’ is Boston. Boston is Paul Revere.” As such, he hatches a plan for the DunKings to win Java Jam by channeling the famous Bostonian Revere in full period garb.
As Strong transforms into Revere, the DunKings meet their main foes, a group called the Drip Squad, led by comedian and actor Druski, as well as the Burger Chain Gang and the Barista Buds. The boy bands exchange clap backs as they prepare for the competition. Strong then breaks the tension by entering as Revere with a raucous declaration: “America Runneth on Dunkin’!” It all leads up to a truce and a Dunkin’ promo with a new DunKings $6 meal deal, available at Dunkin’ locations nationwide. Also new: Dunkin’ dropped a merch line that features Juicy Couture track suits (DunKings for him and DunQueens for her), tumblers, straws and more, some of which are seen below.

The first commercial break during any Super Bowl is always a coveted slot as viewers for the past 15 years have exceeded the 100 million mark. But snagging any commercial break can be seen as a coup for advertisers considering the eyeballs on the game, and the spots have long featured Hollywood stars. This year is no different as such names as Damon, David Beckham, Matthew McConaughey, Kevin Bacon, Greta Gerwig, Charli XCX, Martha Stewart, Willem Dafoe, Catherine O’Hara, Billy Crystal and Mega Ryan are just a few to appear in 2025 Super Bowl commercials. As previously reported by THR, star salaries range from $3 million-$5 million.
