He was 56.Cannon’s death was announced on Tuesday. HITS 96.1, an iHeartMedia station that Cannon was formerly featured on, said he was “an important part of so many people’s lives, providing companionship and laughter to his many listeners and colleagues.”Cannon was one half of “The Ace & TJ Show,” which he cohosted from 1993 to September 2024. The show aired in Louisiana and Alabama before the duo moved to Charlotte in 1998. The comedy-talk show moved to various radio stations across its run but remained a staple on Charlotte airwave.In the wake of Cannon’s passing, dozens of his former listeners have posted their appreciation for his work on social media.Cannon abruptly left The Ace & TJ Show in September 2024. The show rebranded to “The TJ & Riggins Show.” Cannon resurfaced in October 2024, addressing his departure and looking to the future.”Our prayers are with our brother,” the show posted on Facebook. “We are devastated by the news.”A cause of death has not been revealed for Cannon.
