Country music star explains controversial Trump rally performance – AL.com
It seems that Billy Ray Cyrus had a LOT more than just TECHNICAL ISSUES going on at the Liberty Ball just now! 😬😬😬😬I had to watch it (and listen to it) and now you have to too! 😆 pic.twitter.com/t5PNm5IjUFBilly Ray Cyrus has spoken out after what appeared to be a disaster of a performance Monday night at Liberty Ball during President Donald Trump’s rally.“I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not,” Cyrus posted on Instagram. “I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me. I had a ball at the Liberty Ball last night and I’ve learned through all these years when the producer says ‘you’re on,’ you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to hell. I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!”Cyrus appeared to be dealing with a number of technical issues Monday, claiming he couldn’t get his guitar turned on at one point.“Is my guitar still on,” he wondered aloud. “I think they cut me off. Is my guitar, OK? I don’t hear my guitar anymore. Check. Ah, check. Is anybody awake? I don’t hear it? Does anyone hear this?”There were reports that he was also lip syncing.Country music website Whiskey Riff reported that Cyrus eventually appeared to be escorted off the stage after they turned the lights off on him.A post shared by Billy Ray Cyrus (@billyraycyrus)Mark Heim is a reporter for The Alabama Media Group.
