‘Boy Meets World’s Danielle Fishel & Maitland Ward Feud On ‘Pod Meets World’ Podcast: “Do You Hate Us? – Deadline

By Armando Tinoco Staff Writer
It was a tense reunion between Boy Meets World stars Danielle Fishel and Maitland Ward on the latest episode of the Pod Meets World podcast.
Ward was a guest on the podcast hosted by Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Firedle, as the Boy Meets World alum talked about Season 6 of the ABC sitcom. Ward joined the show in 1998 and stayed with the series until its end in 2000.
Midway through the podcast that premiered on February 24, Fishel asked Ward, “Do you hate us?”
“No, I don’t hate you,” Ward said, adding, “I think that you hate me because you wouldn’t speak to me on Girl Meets World and that was hurtful.”
Ward was referring to the Boy Meets World spinoff sequel series, Girl Meets World, which aired on Disney Channel for three seasons. In 2013, Ward shared a photo from the set of the series alongside stars Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter. Although Ward was mentioned in the sequel series, she did not guest star.

On the podcast, Ward also noted that Fishel had unfriended her on Facebook in 2013 after she sent her a message to congratulate her on her engagement. Fishel said she was unaware they were not friends on Facebook and had not seen the message until 2022 after Ward had spoken to Friedle about participating in a future episode of the Pod Meets World podcast.
Fishel then recalls feeling “very bad” for not reading the message and asked Friedle for Ward’s number to apologize privately.
“And you wrote back to Will, no, let’s just save it for the podcast. It’ll be great for the ratings,” Fishel said.
Ward was under the impression that she would appear on the podcast the same year it premiered with Friedle acknowledging that maybe he wasn’t clear that they would guest star when they got to their episodes.
“I thought the podcast was gonna be like next week back then. It was that you guys were just gonna start it out. So I thought it was gonna happen like right away,” Ward said.
Ward mentioned that during her Girl Meets World visit, Fishel did not speak to her, adding, “You had an attitude about it. There was some beef between us, and I didn’t get it. I didn’t know if you thought I was trying to steal attention.”
Fishel noted that she was working and the Disney Channel show was a “very difficult set” for her, adding, “It was a rather tumultuous place. I felt very ostracized. I felt very criticized. I felt a lot of different things being on that set.” Fishel apologized to Ward if she “thought I had something personally against you.”
Fishel brought up Ward’s criticism of the podcast and always seemingly giving an interview to TMZ every time the show was in the press.
“They come and met me, they find me on the streets,” Ward said after Fishel asked how TMZ found her.
Fishel added, “I was just curious because it seems as though every time we’ve been in the news, shortly thereafter, there’s an interview with you on TMZ sharing your opinion on the subject.”
Ward then said she thinks “there’s a divide” because “you guys hate Ben[Savage] and you guys hate Michael [Jacobs].”
The trio denied hating either their co-star or the Boy Meets World co-creator.
Fishel then said that Ward has said the podcast about the TGIF show was “too negative.”
“Do you listen to the podcast?” Fishel asked.
“No, not regularly,” Ward said. “But I do listen to the big shows in the past, especially in the beginning. I haven’t listened to it that much recently.”
Ward fired back at the podcast hosts, accusing them of “grilling” her for views, with Fishel reminding her, “This is what you asked for.”
Rider rebutted Ward’s claims that the show was negative, saying, “If I’m talking about Michael yelling at me, that’s my experience. I was yelled at. I watched him do things. I can describe that; that’s the truth.”
Ward reminded them that they all have “careers and lives” due to the show’s success, with Fishel adding, “So is the price we pay for that silence?”
Ward was disconnected from the call during one of the heated moments, but it was seemingly unintentional as she returned moments later.
The podcast ended with Ward discussing her career on OnlyFans and extending an invite for the prank ward episode in Season 7.Get our Breaking News Alerts and Keep your inbox happy.Signup for Breaking News Alerts & Newsletters
