The modders behind the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 custom campaign Path To Menzoberranzan have revealed that while they would ‘love’ to bring it to console, ‘heavy’ coding scripts would pose a challenge.Speaking to us in a recent interview, Gregory Lotrich said it was ‘going to be hard’ to bring the expansion to consoles because of the sheer level of coding. It’s going be hard.” He continued: “We’re going to use some custom textures, custom models… you need to download all of this.”The good news for PC players, though, is that the team has developed Path To Menzoberranzan to work alongside other mods… so you’ll be able to play the expansion without compromising on your current mod setup. “There are no problems,” said Lotrich. “There will be no conflicts at all. If your mod is working good with the basic game, it’s going to work with the mods.”While there is no concrete release date as yet, Path To Menzoberranzan is scheduled to be released this Spring. The team is currently lining up auditions for voice acting, with thousands now following their development on Discord as the project enters its final stages.The team also revealed the challenges of matching Larian’s quality, especially when it comes to animations. They revealed that Larian would sometimes spend up to six months refining and tweaking character animations, something that is just not feasible for the Path To Menzoberranzan team. The mod will be free to download, and is purely a passion project.
