Anthony Davis expected to miss “multiple weeks” with adductor injury – Mavs Moneyball

Filed under:Davis left the third quarter of Saturday’s game after a non-contact injuryNBA insider Marc Stein reported Sunday night that “it is feared” that Anthony Davis will be sidelined indefinitely after sustaining an adductor injury in the third quarter during Saturday’s win against the Houston Rockets. ESPN’s Shams Charania followed up Stein’s report, saying that Davis is expected to miss “multiple weeks,” and that his absence may “stretch to a month.” Davis is expected to meet with the Mavericks on Monday to discuss treatment options where they will decide if the injury can be treated without surgery. Davis, who made his Maverick debut following the blockbuster trade for superstar Luka Doncic, played 31 minutes in a Mavericks uniform before exiting Saturday’s game due to a non-contact injury. Davis was listed as doubtful to return and he was sidelined for the remainder of the game. After the game, Davis confidently told the media that his injury was not serious. He said his leg got tight and that he felt a spasm. It is no coincidence that this report was released at 9:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday. After all the backlash from the move that landed Davis in Dallas, it was intentional that it would be released when everyone’s attention would be diverted elsewhere. Dallas has received blow after blow from injuries this season. The Mavericks will have to face the music for their decision, and it may get ugly. While Doncic is set to debut for the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night, it may be a long while before we see Davis suit up in a Mavericks uniform again. The Mavericks are 28-25, eighth in the Western Conference. If Dallas falls flat on its face without Davis, there is legitimate concern that the Mavericks may miss the playoffs, much like they did after making a splash trade for Kyrie Irving in 2023. The Mavericks have put themselves in a worse position to win and it quickly caught up to them. Gambling Problem? Call 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537). Hope is here.
