AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT Tested At 3DMark; Offering Faster Performance Than NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 SUPER In TimeSpy Extreme – Wccftech
AMD’s first set of Radeon RX 9070 XT benchmarks have surfaced online, and the results show that the GPU will indeed make massive strides in the mainstream segment.Well, Team Red did surprise us all by not revealing any specifics about their next-gen RDNA 4 GPU lineup, except for disclosing the first batch of SKUs, such as the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. However, leakers have been doing their job pretty well, and we now have what appears to be images of GPU-Z along with 3DMark testing (via Chiphell) done on the Radeon RX 9070 XT, revealing specifics of the SKU and where it lies when compared to existing counterparts in the market. It is important to note that the images have now been taken down to prevent an NDA violation, but fortunately, @0x22h on X has managed to get their hands on the details. Before we dive into the tests, an interesting point to note here is that the admin at Chiphell’s forum, who is also an expert reviewer, claims that consumers shouldn’t rush to preorder NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs, saying that the “world has changed,” hinting that RDNA 4 will indeed debut with surprising performance. It seems like Team Red have made last-minute changes, which we’ll discuss next.It is rumored that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will now come with a higher TBP of 329W, at least for the reference models. This is confirmed by a renowned leaker discussing this in the Chiphell forum, and “alleged” Furmark testing of the GPU has also validated this figure.Moving onto GPU-Z tests, it is revealed that the Radeon RX 9070 XT will come with 3060 MHz boost clocks and 2520 MHz base clocks. Moreover, the GPU does feature 16 GB VRAM, and the tested model is an ASUS variant, coming in with 4096 SPs.Moving onto the 3DMark TimeSpy & Speed Way benchmarks, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has obtained 6,345 points and 14,591 points, respectively.Compared with existing options such as the RDNA 3 flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX, the GPU surely beats it. Moreover, in NVIDIA’s camp, the Radeon RX 9070 XT beat the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER with a slim 6%-8% margin, at least based on what the 3DMark benchmarks show.It is important to note that RDNA 4 drivers might be in their beta stages now. Hence, these figures may vary on the official release, but despite this, it’s safe to say that AMD’s RX 9070 SKUs will disrupt the mainstream GPU markets, given that what we have witnessed is based on the incoming leaks. However, consumers should take this information with a grain of salt since pre-launch tests are often quite different from when GPUs are available publicly.News Sources: 0x22h, Tomasz GawronskiSome posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links.
