AMD board partners and retailers have already received their Radeon RX 9070 XT inventory, but they can still not sell due to AMD’s extended embargo.Update [1/28/2025] – AMD’s Frank Azor has responded to the new pricing rumor and stated that the $899 US starting price point was never part of the plan, so we can expect a lower price point. While we aren’t going to comment on all the price rumors, I can say that an $899 USD starting price point was never part of the plan.— Frank Azor (@AzorFrank) January 27, 2025From AMD’s board partners to retailers worldwide, it looks like AMD has already sent the initial batch of its RDNA 4 GPUs. However, due to multiple delays, the AIBs and retailers are forced not to sell their GPUs, as AMD has its plans, which will conclude in March. This is once again proven by a report from a Bulgarian retailer who tried to shed some light on AMD’s initial plans for selling RX 9000 GPUs. In a YouTube video, the retailer showcased the PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU, which PowerColor showcased at CES (PowerColor has introduced two more RX 9070 XT GPUs). The RX 9070 XT GPU has already been prepared by many of AMD’s board partners, but they are still silent on the official specifications and pricing. However, the Bulgarian retailer revealed AMD’s initial pricing plans for the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, which appear quite weird if you look at their leaked performance numbers. As per the retailer, AMD initially priced the RX 9070 XT around the RX 7900 XT, which is $899. As for the RX 9070, it was supposedly priced at $749. Since the card is said to be marginally faster than the RX 7900 XT, the pricing does look absurd, but that’s what AMD was supposedly planning at first. With the launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 cards, especially the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070, AMD took its time to delay the launch to late January but postponed it further to March, citing software stack optimization as the reason. AMD still has more than a month to strategize for the GPU release, but there is no solid or reliable leak concerning the prices of the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070.Frank Azor mentioned that they wanted AMD’s 70-class cards to compete with 70-class GPUs from NVIDIA, so AMD might price the RX 9070 GPUs around the MSRP of RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070. The NVIDIA cards are priced at $749 and $549 respectively, so AMD is unlikely to go for the $700+ price tag for the RX 9070 XT and $500+ for the RX 9070.It still looks unlikely that the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will launch for around $700 as one of the recent leaks unveiled a $529 price tag for a Gigabyte edition. However, these early price listings are subject to change, and the RX 9070 XT may be priced higher than $600.News Source: VideocardzSome posts on wccftech.com may contain affiliate links.
