The recasting was first reported by The Insneider; TVLine has reached out to Disney+ for official confirmation. Baylan Skoll’s mysterious side journey was hinted throughout Season 1 of the Disney+ series, with the Jedi-turned-mercenary revealing in Episode 6 that he felt something pulling him to remain on Peridea, and then deciding to pursue an undisclosed “path” in Episode 7 (of 8).

Given where we left off with the character in the Season 1 finale, it was obvious that Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni had planned to do much more Baylan Skoll, before Stevenson’s untimely passing. In addition to his role as Sandor “The Hound” Clegane on HBO’s Game of Thrones, McCann’s previous TV credits include Prime Video’s Knuckles, BBC Two’s Banished and Paramount+’s Transformers: Earthspark (where the Scotsman voices no less than Megatron).Ahsoka Season 2 is confirmed to begin filming in the spring.Want scoop on Ahsoka, or for any other Star Wars TV show? ΔInteresting. He certainly brings the right kind of physicality to the table. I wonder if he’ll be able to capture the same kind of mysterious refinement that Stevenson did. I mostly know him from more rough-edged, blue collar roles. It would have been better to cast Vincent Regan. He and Ray could have been brothers. No disrespect to Rory, terrific actor, but doesn’t bear a resemblance. With ongoing obligations to both One Piece and House of the Dragon, he’s pretty busy these days. And while I agree he looks more like Stevenson than McCann does, I don’t think that should necessarily be the primary concern when casting.Oh, full dance card. I guess that makes sense, what with Ahsoka filming in the spring. The transition to me would have felt more seamless, but I see your point. From The Hound to a Force-wielder… love this casting (though I hate the citcumstances as to why it was done)! Yarp!Isn’t Knucles on Paramount+?Yeah, it’s totally a Paramount+ series.
Though you can buy episodes on Prime Video. And you can subscribe to Paramount+ through Prime Video. So it’s all a bit confusing.Loved him in GOT, Ray Stevenson will be Greatly Missed. The mysterious ora he brought to the role was incredible. Wasn’t nothing better then the relationship “The Hound” & “Arya” had.Than. Better than.Fantastic choice. Look forward to seeing The Hound wielding a lightsaber!Have you seen the YouTube Clegane-Bowl video where someone changed The Hound’s and The Mountain’s blades to lightsabers?I am curious if they will try to make him look more similar with makeup or just go with a new look.If they wanted a real lookalike, Liev Schreiber would have fit the bill. This is an interesting choice and I look forward to what they’ll do with it.Ray Stevenson’s Baylon was head and shoulders above any other character on the program, and Ray acted everyone else off screen. I watched his final performance with reverence and a feeling of privilege that we had been blessed with such a fine actor one last time.
My initial feeling was that the character should be retired, maybe his paduwan taking up his quest in his stead. But Rory could pull this off, he has the presence to carry the character and honour what Ray started.
It’s about the only good decision Star Wars have made in the last 4 years!!By providing your information, you agree to our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
