by JACKSON WALKER | The National News DeskTOPICS:LOS ANGELES (TNND) — A longtime ABC News anchor received strong criticism on social media this week for wearing a jacket with clothespins affixed to it while reporting on the Los Angeles wildfires.Anchor David Muir reported live from Los Angeles Wednesday amid raging wildfires in the area. During a live shot from the scene, Muir turned away from the camera to reveal two clothespins affixed to the back of his yellow jacket.That clip generated buzz across social media as commentators debated the purpose of the pins.“This make up wearing m— used clothes pins to pull in the fire jacket he’s wearing as a prop, so he would look snacky for TV,” commentator David Cernovich wrote.“Nice Jacket Bro,” media personality Jack Osbourne added. “Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothes line pegs, while our city burns to the ground.”Actor Danny Polishchuk condemned the criticism, writing “what a weird thing to be mad about.”A source familiar with Muir’s field reporting told The National News Desk (TNND), however, the clothespins were being used purposefully given the high winds in the area.“This was 30 seconds before air, a producer stepped in to try to fix the coat in the wind,” the source said. “This had nothing to do with David Muir asking for anything.”The source also mentioned Muir’s jacket was fixed to ensure it wasn’t creating noise during the shot.Several anchors across other cable news channels wore protective equipment while reporting live from Los Angeles this week. Fox News’ Jonathan Hunt wore a similar jacket with goggles and a face mask.CNN reporter Nick Watt was nearly struck by debris while reporting near a burning apartment in Los Angeles.
