A PS5 Re-Release of SEGA RPG Classic Skies of Arcadia No Longer Seems Up in the Air – Push Square

The 2000 fan favourite was released under the latter name in Japan. After attracting critical acclaim on the Dreamcast, an expanded version of the outing was ported to the GameCube, but it’s never been remastered or re-released for modern platforms.Sky’s the limitWhile the trademark is far from a confirmation, SEGA will be aware of the strong fan demand for this particular title, and we wouldn’t be shocked to see it re-emerge later this year.Have you ever played Skies of Arcadia? Are you itching to revisit it? But I’ve always been interested in it and would love to play it!Please say this is true, I need this game in my life again. The only reason I’m not playing it right now is because I don’t know where the power cable for my Dreamcast is.I think it is the best JRPG I ever played (it just needed a hard mode). You really felt like you were on an adventure. The characters and story are fantastic and it has a great turn based battles mechanic. The soundtrack was also epic. It was the best game on the Dreamcast by a huge margin. I am very excited to play this on Switch 2.I never get the chance to played this game but i would give it try if there’s a remaster for PS4/5.I tried it due to the overwhelming hype and just couldn’t get into it at the time. I might need to just give it another go.It’s insane they never remastered it. It had “legend” in the game cube title and it was well deserved. Although I’m not sure it has aged well. A remaster might need some QOL and animation improvements.Skys of Arcadia legends was my favourite GameCube game, and that’s saying something! Been hoping for this and lost odyssey for ages.Skies of Arcadia is one of my most wanted ports. A remastered version would be awesome to see. I’d be grabbing this day one.Never had the chance to play either version but would definitely love to play a remaster of it if all the rumours turn out to be true. Both versions of Skies of Arcadia are very expensive now a daysI skipped this back in the day and my mate picked it up on the DC, I bought so may DC games back then but passed on this one and always regretted it. Would definitely pick this up as it’s a bit of a cult classicIt’s been 20+ years since I’ve done a proper play though so I’m down for a skies remaster, just hope it gets a physical release that doesn’t involve limited run games.Yep. They should do that. One of the DC’s best.LOVED this game back in the day. I wonder how it hold up?Be still my beating heart!!!I remember playing the demo and loving it but never saw it in the wild and the prices it goes for nowadays are stupid.@GumbaMasta is it not just the standard cable the one that works with the PlayStation works fine on my DreamcastNever had the chance to play this one when I was younger but if there’s any kind of re-release or remaster then it’ll be a definite purchase for me.”A PS5 Re-Release of SEGA RPG Classic Skies of Arcadia No Longer Seems Up in the Air” 😂I remember when it was announced that they were going to port it to PS2. Sadly that never happened. It’d be great to get it now – here’s hoping!!I actually had this on the original Dreamcast back in the day and it really was a superb RPG. But if a remaster of sorts is on the cards, they really need to add quality of life improvements; mainly for how slow the battles were (the general flow and loading into a fights). It got really annoying after 50 hours or so.I hope it’s true! I never played it but I’ve always wanted to.Jesus this is the game I’ve been waiting desperately to hear of a remaster / remake for! I would absolutely die if this gets confirmed as happening. Please Sega make it happen! Would make my year!Yes!! Get it done Sega!Whatever RPG sega comes out with, I will give it a go. I love RPGs. But wouldn’t play anything old. So would have to be a remake or reboot rather than a remaster. Please be true 🙏🏼I was just thinking about Skies of Arcadia this week! Make this happen!!Had this on Dreamcast. Really loved the concept but always got a bug where a certain location wouldnt appear on the overworld map and that was that. Would pick up a remaster for sure.I have never heard about such game. It’s wonderful and unique but you have to be patient with the battle system. The ship combat is super cool. It’s like the Monkey Island 3 of JRPGsOf course I’ve played it. And I’m sad to see the value of my GameCube version potentially crash. Don’t you just hate rereleases of expensive games…I was playing this again on my dreamcast last week, game is still magical in all the right ways. This is great news if turns out to be true and is coming to ps5.I’d say this has made my day but I’m so excited it’s more like a laxative and has made my hole weak!Sega need to get nightdive on this, aha a man can dream 😊Love this game, one of my favourite JRPGS, it’s in my top 5.I’m wishing for a Remaster and a new game for years. I hope it happens.Wish Sega would turn its attention to its vast arcade heritage and get some of them on modern systems, everyone just wants to churn out rpg’s all the time.It is one of my favourites, I loved it back then. I do think it probably doesn’t hold up very well now though, especially without nostalgia goggles. Likely it needs some quality of life improvements these days. Still, I would pick it up.Well…that would pretty much complete my Dreamcast library finally. I did enjoy Skies way back in the day. Even if it is very traditional, I loved the campy writing.Back in the day I had to buy a chipped Dreamcast to play this one, it was impossible to get in the UK. I hit the bug that made it impossible to complete, which was maybe a bit of karma for me, so I’d love a remaster to play the game as intended.Never played it, and it’s on the top of my list If this comes out to be true, day one buy for meI played the gamecube version from start to finish back in 2009 i think. It’s been a while but i definitely loved it at the time, a classic JRPG adventure. Might play it again, but the problem is I’m drowning in games, I’m in my 30s and time is an issue. I do hope that many JRPG fans that haven’t had the chance get a lot of fun out of it!I played it on Gamecube and couldn’t get into it. I think at the time I was having my own personal backlash against turn-based games. Now I relish them when they come around so I could see myself enjoying it much more if it came back.***** finally! SEGA took way too long to do anything with this IP and it still has one of THE best airship turn based combat in any JRPG ever.Really really high hope for it to be a remake instead of just a remaster, but I’ll be happy with either regardless. The best game that Sega has ever produced outside of F-Zero GX. A true masterpiece, and desperately in need of a definitive version since the GCN version has butchered audio, but also more content.I loved it back in the day but I remember A LOT of random encounters! And I remember downloading a popsicle-like weapon for Aika from Dream Arena! And you could feed Fina’s mascot/weapon using the VMU! Good timesWould love this to happen. Don’t play with me like this, Sega!I would love to revisit this game, but I definitely hope it gets some QOL updates. Even as a teenager I remember the random encounters being pretty bad.Hope it’s true. The originals are a lot of money now.Hope it gets released on ps5. I love that game but I’m not paying 100+ for a 2nd hand copy and I’m sick of playing it on my phone. I don’t care if it’s remastered or not, I’ll take it as the same Dreamcast or gamecube versionThere’s word going around that it’s Sega just updating the trademark for the IPs stuff they can sell with the characters. But I remember the actually guy who made the game saying he wants a remaster and to make a new game, it will sell bucket loads and it would be a great game on the likes of Switch 2 sega if they do should release it across all platforms@Nei Finas lollypop weapon lol I remember that I loved the game on Dreamcast I really hope they bring it back it would be 25 years this year for the DC releaseEveryone and their mom wants remasters of everything and I just want a sequel.@JB_Whiting This! Great game and I really enjoyed it, but I got to a maze-like dungeon late on and the random battles were so slow to load and carry out. Meant I never actually finished the game.Pretty cool, then again about time Sega did something with this or it’s sequels/spinoffs if it had many besides seeing the Eternal one mentioned in the article that I didn’t know about. That and heard fans mention it a lot so….. throw them a bone for sure to play them on modern platforms and those that have been interested and don’t have a Dreamcast/GameCube or besides emu playing of it.Then again where is another Shining (any main/sub series) game or non-online Phantasy Star as well? Sakura Wars even? Valkyria Chronicles 5?
