(Read our full recap here.) Frank met up with Rick in a Bangkok hotel lobby, and we learned that the two of them used to party together a lot. But Frank has cleaned up his act and found religion, sipping chamomile tea and telling Rick he’s been sober for 10 months now: “I took the partying thing as far as it can go.” And what did he mean by that? Well…

Frank proceeded to tell Rick what led to his sobriety: He moved to Thailand because he had to leave the country and “I always had a thing for Asian girls.” He partied hard at first, bringing a different girl home every night, but that got old after a while. He started looking inward and wondering why he couldn’t find satisfaction, deciding that “maybe what I really want is to be one of these Asian girls.” Huh? Well, then Frank hired a Thai ladyboy for penetrative sex, “and it was kind of magical.” He realized that he actually wanted to have sex with himself, so he started dressing up like an Asian girl and having sex with random white men his age to fulfill the fantasy. He even hired an Asian girl to watch, so he could look into her eyes during sex and think: “I am her. And I’m f–king me.”While Rick’s mind was reeling from hearing all of this (and ours, too), Frank casually concluded: “Hey, we all have our Achilles heel, man.” He was searching for who he really was inside and what he really wanted: “Guess I was trying to f–k my way to the answer.” But Frank realized he had to stop, and he got into Buddhism and got sober, taking a break from the ever-spinning wheel of desire. Being sober is easy, he tells Rick, but “I still miss that p—y, man.”Obviously, this was a crazy story in and of itself — and sure to be one of the most talked-about moments of the season — but what did it tell us about Rick? He’s still stuck on the wheel of desire, it seems, seeking retribution for a crime that has haunted him all his life and pushing everything else aside (including his loving girlfriend Chelsea) to get it. Will he, too, realize that he can never find satisfaction that way by the end of the season? We’ll find out soon enough: Season 3 of The White Lotus only has three episodes left, with the season finale set for Sunday, Apr. 6 at 9/8c on HBO.

ΔSeemed random and out of nowhere like an afterthought. Just an excuse to have Leslie Bibb’s partner on the show at the same time.Well she was there for six months filming. Probably fun to have your partner along for part of itBut it didn’t advance the story in anyway. It seemed made up on the fly.Sam Rockwell can do no wrong! End of story. In a TV show with plenty of ‘WTF?’ moments, that one scene might have been the most out there.Love Sam Rockwell the only thing missing was him dancing. His jaw dropping story was shocking but it was Ricks expression that had me laughing out loud.Me too! 😂And yet… not the strangest story I’ve heard regarding expats in Thailand and their debauchery. I’ve known one or two…Nice surprise. But — half the cast was dancing — couldn’t they have come up with a way to have Sam Rockwell dance, too? Maybe just a teensy little Bob Fosse move as he walked away? Oh well, I guess it might’ve blown the eerie vibe.Boring season. Not as good as the first two. IMO the characters and storylines are dull and I especiallly fon’t care for those three ridiculous women. I don’t get the fascination for Mike White. This is just a travelogue for Thailand.I agree. While I am usually for longer seasons, this one should not have had more than 6.But when I say I prefer Black, Mixed and Latino men, I’m accuse of racial fetishizing. Whatever, tho…*accusedDon’t believe it. It’s called gaslighting. People like who they like and there’s nothing anyone can do about it except have an opinion, even when they’re doing the same thing with their preferences.Yet another great episode lol.It was an interesting monologue, but I didn’t buy it as far as an acting performance. Sam Rockwell delivered the words well but I didn’t believe it happened to him. I didn’t see in his eyes or inner emotional life, that he was reliving things that actually happened to him. That he was seeing it in his mind or feeling it as he described it. It just seemed like a monologue performance, that was almost like an audition monologue. He’s a great actor but I did not buy the performance of the monologue as being true to that person as a living human. It just seemed like an actor delivering a great monologue, devoid of the actual lived experience of the character. It was ‘shocking’, but the shock was in the words, not the performance. He definitely has had those experiences. No doubtReally odd to me that the reviewer brands this the most sexiest episode yet.
There really wasn’t anything sexy about it at all. In fact, it really went out of its way to show the emptiness and emotionally banruptcy of sexuality today, reduced to bodies upon bodies with nothing to offer. Sex today is completely devoid of the erotic. This dead-eyed continual sexual orgy that filled this episode was more infection and disease than a celebration of the beauty and mysteries of life. This was Roman-sized decadence at the end of a crumbling empire. This spiritually bankrupt civilization scenario as beautifully anchored by Rick’s friend in the middle of all these happenings, unloading his dead-end journey for satisfaction, filled with layer upon layer of role playing and sexual masquerade and bodies and eyes watching one another. That was a very creepy speech. We should have been horrified. It had zero to do with sexuality. Which is what sex is today anyway … self-reflection is being fulfilled by selfie-reflection.
We’ve been consumed by consumerism, we perform and pretend all the time, we are in denial that it just isn’t working. This episode was hardly the sexiest – if you think it was, you’re not getting it. It was a surreal nightmare.I don’t agree, but this is a good take.ShockingI love Sam and was so happy to see him
Add Walton it should have been epic but it was just weird. A beautifully performed monologue but ultimately pointless. Much like sadly this season. Lots of great actors and potential but nothing really happening except for what seems to be a show trying very hard to shock its audience with sex and strangenessBy providing your information, you agree to our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.
