Disney is ready to dive in with the full trailer for its live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch.
Director Dean Fleischer Camp’s new version of the 2002 animated movie is set to hit theaters May 23. Its stars include Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Nani, and Kaipot Dudoit as David Kawena. Rounding out the cast are Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance and Hannah Waddingham, alongside original voice stars Chris Sanders, Tia Carrere, Amy Hill and Jason Scott Lee.

A previous Lilo & Stitch trailer showed the titular blue alien causing no shortage of chaos at the beach. The 2002 feature centers on a Hawaii-based girl named Lilo who adopts a dog that turns out to be a genetically engineered extraterrestrial being with an unfortunate purpose.

“Sometimes family isn’t perfect,” Kealoha tells Stitch in the new trailer. “That doesn’t mean they aren’t good.”
Camp helmed the new film from a script by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, which is based on the 2002 movie that was co-directed by Sanders and Dean DeBlois. Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin are producers.
During a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter to highlight his directorial work on The Wild Robot, Sanders teased his return as the voice of Stitch.
“I have been able to see a few things, and I can’t tell you what I’ve seen,” Sanders revealed at the time. “But they allowed me to see some peeks of what they wrote, too, and it’s really cool.”
Camp directed A24’s Oscar-nominated 2021 title Marcel the Shell With Shoes On.
Disney continues to prioritize its live-action remakes that focus on beloved characters. Director Barry Jenkins’ prequel movie Mufasa: The Lion King hit theaters in December and has surpassed $700 million at the worldwide box office.Sign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySubscribe for full access to The Hollywood ReporterSend us a tip using our anonymous form.
