Meghan McCain will not be tuning in to watch Meghan Markle‘s new Netflix show With Love, Meghan.
The host of the Citizen McCain podcast and daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to express why she feels the Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming series is “just completely and utterly tone deaf.”
“I was originally a Meghan Markle supporter, I thought she was cool, stylish and refreshing,” McCain wrote. “Like the rest of the world my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family. Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored. All of this even in the trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch.”

She continued, “There have been 2 terror attacks in 2 days, major wars raging and Americans can’t pay for groceries. We are a country in rage, uncertainty and intensity right now. This concept is ill advised. I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low income neighborhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.”
With Love, Meghan, which premieres on the streamer Jan. 15, is a kitchen-and-garden series that sees Markle chilling at home with friends, making meals and sharing all sorts of homemaker tips. In the trailer released Thursday, the wife of Prince Harry was seen hosting her famous friends, including Roy Choi, Mindy Kaling and Alice Waters.
Markle also made her grand return to Instagram this week, where she shared the show’s trailer, writing in the caption, “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun! As ever, Meghan.”Sign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySign up for THR news straight to your inbox every daySubscribe for full access to The Hollywood ReporterSend us a tip using our anonymous form.
