Now, it’s not known at this stage exactly what kind of download will be needed, but given that it’s seemingly a requirement and not an option, we’re guessing that the base game simply doesn’t fit on a standard Switch cartridge.We’ve reached out to Activision for some more information and will update when we hear back, but if this is indeed the case, it’s a bit of a blow for physical enthusiasts. For many, having parts of the game missing from the cartridge may not provide many issues in the short term, but could potentially result in problems years down the line when said download may no longer be possible. For others, heck, maybe a download isn’t possible at all.Fingers crossed the download just entails cosmetics or additional settings, but if it’s something substantial like full levels or even an entire game, then that’s not good.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 was recently confirmed after weeks of rumours and speculation. It’s okay THPS games are titles I don’t really care about being physical anyways since the originals had physical edition in masses already.The first game also had a Download Required banner, but it was mostly just for the multiplayer content; you could play the games single player in their entirety from the cart, as I recall. So here’s hoping it’s the same thing here.At this point you should just be thankful they’re porting PS5 games to an 8 year old handheld console.Not sure why this stuff surprises anyone… I stopped bothering with physical on switch as its no point and you generally pay more for it, also the convenience of a portable console is to have games ready to go…i can only bring 10 games with me anywhere physically unless i want to pack my physical game case… But pc is alll digital and overtime i see no point in it anymore…we pretend we’re gonna sit here trying to play these games 25 years later, as what I’ve seen on PlayStation its easier to transfer your digital collection to the next console than it is to sit there and pop in games to check for a license everytime annnnnd the game itself has to be downloaded anyways… Sorry physical is not gonna last forever which is bullsh*t but its the way it is…. Thank God for emulationCool so I’ll stick to playing it via Game Pass on my Series X, then.

Tony Hawk 1+2 also had such a disclaimer on Switch and PS4/PS5 and it was mostly for cosmetic stuff (except on Switch, which was for multiplayer).Multiplayer part will need to be downloaded, but not single player. Just like the last time, I’m fine with this. Well, I’m not, because of ***** (and expensive, but why consumer has to care about it?) Switch carts in general, but I’ll take it. This is infuriating…@KociolekDoSyta @PKDuckman : 6GB is likely all that will be on the cartridge, while the real size of the game will be revised later to factor in the “update data”. We’ve seen this happen with other games in the past.I’m writing to Activision myself, I’m so mad.The music in 1+2 was very compressed on Switch, so I just hope this extra download is their way of getting around that this timeBest way to get around it would be to release it on a bigger cart. I wrote them about it, surely they’ll listen…Mandatory download? Maybe it’s not a surprise, but still a bit of a nuisance.
