Free PS Plus Compensation for Recent PSN Downtime Is Being Issued Now – Push Square

GuestGuestLogin | Sign UpPush SquareGuestLogin or Sign UpYou don’t need to do anythingSony has started issuing compensation for PSN’s recent dramatic downtime, which lasted almost 24 hours. The company promised it’d make good on the loss of service by providing all paying PS Plus members with an additional five days of service, free of charge. The additional time, the company said, would automatically be added to all eligible subscribers’ accounts. And we can confirm that this is being processed now. We checked the expiry date of our most recent PS Plus Premium payment and can confirm five additional days have been added. You can check this for yourself by finding your own receipt in your inbox, and then comparing the denoted expiry date to your current membership info.To do this, login to the PS Store through here, click on your avatar icon, select ‘Subscriptions Management’, and refer to your next payment date. If it’s five days later than what was listed on your most recent receipt, then you’ve received your extension. In the greenReimbursements on the wayLooking online, it seems many have already had the compensation added to their accounts, although it may take a little more time to reach everyone. If you haven’t got it yet, remain patient and check again tomorrow. How will you be using your additional PS Plus time? Do you think this is satisfactory compensation for the outage? I don’t even think I had my playstation on that weekend either!Probably should have been 7 days, that way you’re guaranteed to get an extra weekend of PS Plus as compensationJust checked, mine’s been added even though I wasn’t affected by the outage (I was away that weekend)I wish there was an option to opt out instead of it just automatically being added on, it’s messed up my renewal dates now and I’ll probably miss out on the January PS plus sale next yearI renewed my Subscription when it was 35% off so assuming there’s a similar sale next year, these extra 5 days that I’ve been “gifted” will potentially cost me an extra £35 – £40 when / if I come to renew next time@Member_the_game yeah I agree with you. I’m in the same boat. I saw you previously mention this and people attacked you which I thought was pretty petty. Don’t get me wrong it’s not the end of the world if I miss the days of play renewal sale but you’d be an idiot to choose the full price if the option of a sale is there”Do you think this is satisfactory compensation for the outage?”I wouldn’t normally go as far as to say this, but there are people out there who really need to touch grass if going for one day without your PlayStation messed you up to the degree that you are still unhappy about it.Removed – flaming/arguing@QualityGeezerYeah as you say, it’s not the end of the world, just annoying as I’d purposely timed it so that it always expired when the sale was on. These extra days will probably take me past the sale period. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could stack the subscription as people were suggesting last time but Sony seem to have put a stop to that. The sale prices are either for new subscriptions or to upgrade from one tier to a higher oneSince I’ve bought 20 years of subscription in advance I can’t really confirm if the 5 extra days have been added to my account but I’ll take everyone’s word for it@Member_the_game @QualityGeezer I’m pretty sure you can still buy another 12 months during the sale window and it’ll simply stack onto the end of your current subscription. I may be wrong, but it’s worth checking.@The_Pixel_KingDefinitely couldn’t back in January. My existing subscription expired on 31st January, prior to that the only thing I could do was upgrade my Extra subscription to Premium….It was roughly about 35p to upgrade for the remaining 10 daysI had to wait for the subscription to expire before it would offer me a 12 month plan at the discounted priceand for the non ps+ members that couldnt play games ?This is pathetic from Sony@The_Pixel_King you can’t stack it unfortunately mateMy sub just ran out last week, so does this allow me to get those 5 days still? Or I am I just out of luck my sub is done@MrPeanutbutterz Thank you for your kind words regarding my so-called entitlement. I wasn’t actually talking about myself because I couldn’t care less about PS Plus compensation, however, I do like to think of others less fortunate than myself. Maybe you have all the free time in the world, and for that I congratulate you, but some people may only have one free day per week. Therefore 5 days compensation may be of no use to them, depending on when their subscription expiry falls. But you can call them self entitled if it makes you happyHaven’t got PS+ any more (not since Dec last year) but I also couldn’t play any non-disc games either. What do we get for that Sony? Nowt.@Czar_Khastik Only 20 years? You can’t be much of a gamer 🙃Just checked. They’ve given me 5 extra years.@TheKurgan You’ll be out in 3 with good behaviorGot PSPlus again on the 20th of February and my subscription shows it ending on the 25th of this month. So it looks like I got the extension as well.Removed – flaming/arguingI don’t see the extra days yet. But otherwise my sub was running out this Friday anyway, so I won’t start with a new game anymore.@KillerBoy why is it pathetic are or you just a troll? 5 days free for 1 days minor inconvenience seems commendable too me@QualityGeezerRemoved – flaming/arguingYup I gots mine 🤪Not got mine still says the 27/03/25 but I downgraded to basic so maybe why I’ll check over the best few daysRemoved – flaming/arguingRemoved – flaming/arguingI am just happy they got it fixed in 24 hrs. I didn’t expect Sony to give anything to me, besides I had plenty of games that did not need online access.@TedLassoNikes @MrPeanutbutterz Jesus get a room you two..Yep, got mine! I’ve now got 17 days to buy a bunch of cheap psn credit before my subscription renews, instead of the original 12 days.So people that play free to play games I don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription but we’re still affected get ***** all@Nakatomi_Uk Not got mine either. Unbroken Plus/Essential membership, many years. UK.I don’t really care that it was down for a day and I don’t care that we got 5 extra days. It’s a non issue that was blown out of proportion. Nothing like what happened back in the PS3 days.I’ve been too busy touching grass to notice, since that was the prevailing advice. Too bad the grass is all still dead. Except for that guy down the street who has fake grass which is green all year round. Helps with the allergies too.@LifeGirl This was my stance as well. 5 days don’t amount to much given I am, well, not always at my playstation due to adulthood. But free stuff for something inconsequential is fine by me.I don’t want extra days. It may take me over the sale period@Czar_Khastik 20+ steps ahead! Now that’s a reason to smile lolI never saw it on mines, and I have been a existing customer for so many years for sure since ps3. I usually buy PsPLus 2-3 years at a time and this is the 1st year in a long time I haven’t been able to do that. I never saw any days added to my subscription before it expired. Also couldn’t get the $99.99 deal, cause I’m not a new customer which would have been nice to have.I hope they learn to do stuff to honor their loyal day 1 gamers as well.Got mine. Seems a good deal to me. Thank you Sony.Didn’t get mine yet.it says 4/3/2025 so I don’t know if it is today or next month Show CommentsLeave A CommentHold on there, you need to login to post a comment…PS Plus Essential Games for March 2025 Include Some Massive NamesA shockingly strong monthLast Chance to Get These 12 PS5, PS4 Games At Their Lowest Ever Prices in the Weekend OfferThe best PS Store deals from the Weekend OfferFree PS Plus Compensation for Recent PSN Downtime Is Being Issued NowYou don’t need to do anything43 PS5, PS4 Games You Should Buy in PS Store’s Dealmania SaleRecommended PS5 and PS4 games going cheapThese 13+ New PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out Next Week (3rd-9th March)Age of Mythology Retold!
