Last updated: March 3rd, 2025 at 06:26 UTC+01:00 Samsung has delayed the release of the One UI 7.0 update compared to its previous updates. This delay has forced Samsung to do something unexpected. It could skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 to directly release One UI 8.0 after One UI 7.0.
Samsung could skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 to release One UI 8.0 directly
We had exclusively reported a few weeks ago that Samsung was forced to cancel the One UI 7.1 update due to delays related to One UI 7.0. Popular tipster Ice Universe has claimed that Samsung will skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 to release One UI 8.0 directly after releasing One UI 7.0.
This means Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the dual-folding device, will likely launch with One UI 7.0 or One UI 8.0, as One UI 7.1.1 has reportedly been canceled.

Since Google is planning to launch Android 16 early (compared to previous Android releases), Samsung likely didn’t have time to work on One UI 7.1, One UI 7.1.1, and One UI 8.0 (based on Android 16) simultaneously. Hence, the company could have decided to skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 and directly release One UI 8.0 in the second half of this year.

One UI 7.0 debuted with the Galaxy S25 series last month. It is also available on recently released affordable and mid-range phones from Samsung, such as the Galaxy M06 5G, Galaxy M16, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A56.
However, it is still not available for last year’s high-end phones, like the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6.

It is rumored that Samsung will open up the One UI 7.0 Beta Program to several existing high-end and mid-range devices, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy A55, sometime later this month.
The stable One UI 7.0 update could start rolling out to some Galaxy devices in April 2025.
